where are Hybrid N/A builds

maybe its too soon, but its been a while, has anyone found some hybrid builds?

specifically one like mazdatrix hybrid minus the turbo.

rx-8 side irons, gle-se (fb) housings, rx8 rotors with rx7 apex seals. I have heard of this type of build but I havne't found any build threads or results from them.

the fb rotor housings are considerably cheaper then rx8 housings purchased brand new. and they have the appropriate coolant seal grooves

the taller apex seals are necessary so the seal keeps its shape while going over the perhipreal exhaust port on the fb housing

seems like you could have good power output but less low end torque maybe 260whp?

anyways if anyone has some links or knowledge I would love to see/read about it!!
I will keep searching and if I find anything I will post it here

i've heard of a couple in japan, it puts you in the 280rwhp area. i don't remember which shop has which car. there is one with blocked off side ports @280hp, and another shop is using the Rx8 intakes on a bridgeport REW.

the 12A housings are NLA, the 13B housing, N304-10-100C has plenty of supply

no links, i have a buddy who apprentices at a JDM shop, ive been hearing about the JDM Rx8's for a while.

revolution rotary spent 6 months going between the dyno and the flowbench and they are getting 280rwhp from side ports. they sell the whole thing as a package, new engine, intakes, ecu, full exhaust, $16k!

all that effort for that, Thats why I said it's a waste of time, might as well do a swap or just add some sort of FI.

the 12A housings are NLA, the 13B housing, N304-10-100C has plenty of supply
You are right, 12A housings are NLA, but I wouldn't call 11 of 13B housings left "plenty"

You think it will be cheaper to build a hybrid stuff than going FI ?

I think it could be cheaper to build a na hybrid then going FI

if you had a good motor all you need to do is swap out the rotor housings 1k, machine the rotors for rx7 apex seals 500. the seals themselves 350, make an exhaust flange and custom header 1k. you could add some porting, re-ameny did some neat stuff with the apv port. tighter side seal tolerances

so its about 3.5k, yes a use greddy could be had, but there is also 6.5k turbo kits.

with an n/a build you wouldn't have to worry about predetination

its just an idea, I haven't seen anyone do it, if this setup made even 280whp-300whp na. it seems like a better option then a turbo

I already have a turbo setup FYI

I am a big fan of the hybrid set up (and I would like to do it myself if my financial situation was better) but I would like to see some sort of proof of it being at 280ish whp

Pretty easy to make these claims on the internet with no back up

Just saying...........

its only 50 more hp than any NA ive seen in the us...

A) 11 housings is actually like a 5 year supply, and B) they only have 8 Rx8 rotor housings, i see no panic over that.

all the extra work u need to make that 50 hp work ... might as well just snap a turbo on and call it a day (probably less work)

it might be an interesting project, but it's not worth it imo.

at least they still have 100s of rx-8 housings in Japan still, but FB housings ... they don't make them anymore.

extra work? you just rebuild the engine with a different rotor housing, much easier than plumbing up a turbo.

how do you know? and it doesn't matter, they have them
