I may have mispoken on the Shockproof oil. The Redline website used to specificlly state it was not for street use. Now it only says that it's intended for racing diffs and trans, so maybe they reformulated it or just changed their position . It does still say that it's not suitable for most synchro trans due to it's lubricity (very slippery)

Who here remembers their shifter feel, immediately after switching to RP Max Gear?

I remember: it was thick, rubbery, gummy. It was pretty good.

Then probably within a week the feel went back to stock. Thin feeling, can feel the metal gears sliding.

Did something go wrong, or is the initial slickness just not meant to last?

I have been running the shockproof trans lube (lightweight) from Redline for a little while in the trans. The shifts are fine in comparasion to the regular redline i had in before. I really cant tell a differance except i do believe the gear noise/whine at times a little less --but that is subjective. One thing I did do that made a little differance is i change the diff oil (had RP in) to mobil one. Diff not as notchy now on full power exits. Hard to explain--again subjective--but it feels smoother. I think I am going to swap out the shockproof for the Mobel 1 syn soon (low cost doesnt take long) and see if I can tell anything there. Redline and RP just not easliy available locally.

This is funny...before I changed to Royal Purple, I had a pretty significant amount of tranny noise, both whine and syncro noise (with AFE SS mind you). The RP really quited the syncros while engaging gears, and at first I felt like the whine at cruising was almost completely gone, but I have since noticed that I now have 4th and 6th gear whine that I did not notice before???

I'm still glad I made the switch, but I this senario is kind of weird to me.

I didn't notice any change in gear whine after switching to RP, but I really didn't notice much before anyways.
