ok well i am new on here but i was wondering if anyone has used 110 octane yet and if the stock motor can hold it i am going to the track on saturday and wanted to know if i could use it so if you can get back by then i would appreciate it

theres no point. If you think 110 octane will help the car go faster you should read up some more.

yes, you can use it. Yes, I've used it. I ran out of fuel at the track and had to buy it to finish the day and get to the next gas station. You don't need it.

You can use it without worry if it's UNLEADED.

Lead in the fuel (the cheap way to boost normal gas to high octane) will poison your cat, in as little as a few hundred miles. The CEL will light, the cat will need replacing ($1200) and the primary O2 sensor will be dead. ($400).

only without a cat, 100+ octane have lead and it will block up your cat.
a lot of third gen use 110 on track, so you could use it.

It's not really fair to compare a turbocharged ar running high octane with a naturally aspirated one running it.

Personally I don't see the point. You won't go any faster with it on an RX-8 unless you consider the extra weight it takes out of your wallet making you lighter. Use the same stuff you run on the street and don't worry about it. "Race gas" is too much hype. If you are specially tuned to run on it, that's different.

not that i really think it would help much if any....was just wondering.
My car has runflats anyway so not like i will get good traction, lol.

Also, is it worth going to florida or Cali to get the ECU retuned to Jap. stock..or is a selftune piggyback system like Emanage worth it??

"Race fuel" isn't all the same and octane is only one of several benefits that good fuel offers.

Unless you're running under pressure you won't get any benefit from octane over about 96. It won't hurt to be higher, just won't help.

Pump fuel has to meet some criteria that "microbrew" doesn't.

Cost - you might gripe if you had to pay $6.00 a gallone every tankful for commuting.

Vapor Pressure - the EPA doesn't like it when gas vapors trickle out of the fuel storage system. Something to do with NOx and HC formation so they put strict rules on pump fuel.

Most race fuels aren't too constrsined by cost or vapor pressure. That allows them to blend a few lighter fractions that in turn cool the charge better as well as burn faster.

Moreover adding oxygenation agents like MBTE or Toluene allows the motor to burn a little more fuel. Nitrotoluene was added to some fuels but you won't find that in any fuels anymore.

Phillips TT 105 is good stuff. I haven't done any back-to-back testing of 93 Pump fuel and TT105 with the RX8 but I have with 2 strokes and there is about a 6-8% difference. I would bet it's close to that for most production cars as well.
