Temp Gauge

I have a gauge cluster installed and recently the temp gauge stopped giving me readings. Unfortunately, i bought the car with the gauges already installed, so I do not have any directions or any idea of what wires to look for under the dash. Anybody know what color wires i should look for or where i should start? Car electronics are a new thing for me. Thanks.

Chris

do you have a picture?
we might be able to tell what kind gagues they are and we can go from there.

you should have a sending unit somewhere in the engine bay pulling coolant temps for you.

Might want to check the ground for the temp sender unit.
Depending on which on you have, it could be in the same place as Jedi has in his post, or its on the large radiator hose.

thank you sir.
if the gauges aren't reading anything, it could be as simple as a bad ground.

pop the hood and look for a sending unit device. it might look a little different then my RB one but it'll have wires coming out of it.

Well, it doesn't look like the set up you have. I wasn't able to find the sending unit. I would take a pic under the hood but my camera just died on me. On a side note, i just got my blue footwell lights in. That will be my next project after i figure this thing out. If you have any other ideas, let me know. Im going to check out their website again and see if i can get any ideas. Thanks again for the help

Its probably on the large radiator hose.
Refer to the pic below, its the hose running horizontally across.

Well, the mazda certified mechanic at the dealership couldn't find the wire for the temp gauge under the hood either. Could it some how be wired into the built in gauge?

that wire has to go from the gauge to SOMEWHERE in order to get a reading.
can you pop the gauge out and follow the wire?
