Have someone hold their hand around the OEM rubber hose while you press the clutch pedal in and out. The OEM hose expands under pressure. The stainless hose holds the pressure without flexing the hose allowing the clutch to disengage and ingage with less pedal travel. Or, you don't have to push the clutch all the way to the floor for it to work properly.

I know how it works, that's why I have already changed the brake lines Now....

...you mentioned this. I have to agree with that, I never figured it had to do with the hose. I know it happened a few times, and thought it was my 'wrong doing so'... groovy...

No, my friend. you are totally wrong. tranny has nothing to do with it!
And something else, the transmision has oil in, while brake fluid is different, corrosive chemical. the clutch hose is connected with the brake fluid closed curcuit.

Dealer askes too much... I paid about 120euros for brake lines, clutch hose, and brake fluid change... you should do these three together...

The part runs $80-$90. Because they are not familiar with the repair they are probably estimating an hour labor, which at my dealer is $80-$90. Add to that the cost of the brake fluid. I can see where the $175 came from.

... unless they were quoting a price assuming you were supplying the part.
