FL Someone please explain to me "premix"

2005 RX8. Runs perfect, had it from 67k now 71k. I know the maintenance for the rx8(most important oil). But am total new and never premix gas before. The more I read, the more confused I get. Read that idemitsu is the best to get. What is this basically? Mixing gas and oil together? I know the concept of it, more lubrication for the engine. But dont our cars spit oil already into the engine for lubrication(too much oil = flooding?) Please someone help a rx8 brother out. Dumb it down, directions would be greatly appreciated. Links to the one you used would be amazing. thanks

bmannie,
you're on the right track.
Think of pre-mix like a two stroke oil. The concept is to put a small amount in your gas tank so it's already mixed by the time it enters the motor.
the car's Oil Metering Pump (omp) does inject oil into the engine during the combustion cycle but many believe that it does not inject enough oil and that the spray pattern isn't optimal . (ie, the center of the apex seal could use more lubrication)

I recommend Idemitsu, it has a long history of use in rotary engines and burns rather cleanly.
Hope that helps.

I am about to be on my 5th engine, I am hardly a rotary God. And Rotary God drives a Civic and has never owned an RX-8 so........

A lot of this stuff is guess work guys, no one can say what works one way or another when it comes to making a Renesis reliable. It just depends on so many things and when you start modifying it you can throw all the BS out the window.
