Post Service Up Date Help me out

Here is the latest News on my car i took it in last Friday this is the service they want to do on it. I am out of bumper to bumper warranty but i still have the powertrain warranty. I am have alot of work done on my car. here is the list of things that has gone wrong with my car. My back 2 tail lights when out, my 5th gear scratches this is my 3 time bring it in there for the same problem, I need more engine coolant, i need new brake pads, my air bag light is on, and my check engine light is on.

So here is the latest up date....

Ok they want to charge me

$46.31 for a new gas cap.

$394.64 For 2 back tail lights

$114.55 for an upper radiator hose

$224.19 for new brake pads

To top that off they want to charge me $366.24 to crack open my transmission because the last guys who worked on my car said the reason for the transmission failure was because of driver error. Here let me say this i don't ever drive my car hard i might be young but i know how to take car of my car by not driving crazy and screwing up my transmission and the only reason the put down driver error is because i am in college.

Here is my plan of action.

Ok i am going to get a new gas cap online for $12 something
I found some tail lights from mazmart for 270 but i am still looking
i just called Auto Zone for the price of an upper radiator hose
and i am getting hawk brake pads for $60

So guys help me out any suggestions on what i should do about my car. any online places that might help me with some inexpensive parts. Also what do you think i should do about all the warranty problems?? Should i go to the BBB?

First and foremost: you can probably get all that stuff for LESS.

1) not sure but I think you can buy a gascap from onlinemazdaparts.com
2) check with Paul @ Mazmart for the tail lights. What's busted about them? the bulbs? are they letting water in? If so, you can just buy the gaskets, dry them out and apply new gasket
3) radiator hose can be purchased from www.onlinemazdaparts.com or your local auto parts store
4) WAY too muc for brakes. If you want OEM brakes, see link above. If you want aftermarket, go to your auto parts store and order some Hawk pads.

why would you go to the BBB? they're not doing anything illegal, just charging you Retail prices.

They cant just state the transmission problems are driver error, hell, they dont even know WTF is wrong with it yet, since they havent opened it up.

Your warranty still covers the transmission, so they should check it out and fix it for free.

First, I would try to make them understand that.
Second, Id try another dealership for the warranty work.
Third, I would call up Mazda North America, ask them to step in.
Fourth Id threaten to get a lawyer involved if none of those work.
Fifth, get a lawyer involved

oh, and +1 on the gasket for the tailights. No need to replace them. Hell you can just open them, dry, clean, and seal them yourself with silicone, but the gasket is a good idea IMO.

You could need a new bulb or socket.

Check it yourself or take it to adifferent mechanic. You don't need a whole housing for a bad tail light.

Hey guys i have a new question? If i get new brake pads do i need to to get them re shaped or shaved down or something one of my friends was talking to me about it and he said i should have that done before i put new brake pads on it so that it will prolong the life of the brakes or something. What do yall have to say about that?

Clam down

1. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...cat=273&page=1
Brand new Mazda Gas Cap, 12 bux.

2. As long as your rear light has no cracks, u can order this, 1 for each side.
http://www.finishlineperformance.com...cat=302&page=1
To get rid of the water spot inside the light, Take it out following my DIY, 10mm wrench is ALL you need, dry the inside with blow dryer first, then pour some white vinegar into the light and shake it around, then again dry it with blow dryer.

3. you can get 3 BRAND NEW SILICONE Billion hose for around 150 shipped from Japan. Im trying to get the connection to work. In the mean time, you can get Agency Power Silicone hose for about 120 bux ? it comes with The Upper hose that you need, and the lower hose from Radiator to Water Jacket. and Silicone hose last WAY LONGER than rubber OEM hose.

4. A Set of hawk Ceramic front brake pad cost like about 70 bux shipped, it has more stopping power & less dust than OEM. no cutting or anything. Try www.tirerack.com, and put X269 Connor as your sales rep at check out, type Rx8club.com in the comment box, he will ship ur order out fast.

Dealership always assume that their customers are morons so they can say/charge whatever they want. I pissed a lot of dealerships off cuz Im not the type of guy that they can get a penny out from my pocket.

RX-8's Aisin Transmission is a *well known* weak spot of the car, Unlike the RX7's 5 speed Aisin which was considered to be indestructible, RX8's tranny can break for no reason, most likely the Syncro or the 2nd gear.

Ask them this, say that some guy on the internet wants to know, how do they *proof* that the transmission has been abused/driver error ? I really want to know what kind of BS will come out from their mouths.

The gas cap is an emission issue and the warranty for that is well beyond the basic warranty. Tell them you checked with the EPA. May save you a few bucks.

As long as you get the right part, is just direct bolt on. my local garage charge 20 dollars labor for each brake pad replacement, if I do all 4 at the same time they just charge me 60. they even bleed the brakes for me. not bad huh

So the hawk Ceramic should be a direct bolt on. I am getting a friend to put them on for me, and he was talking about all that stuff. So he should be able to just bolt it on?

make sure you have the correct key for pushing the rear brake cylinders back. turn and push hard. also, put some grease on rubber seal if its sticking.

I tried to type in your sales rep code but it didn't work maybe i was at the wrong screen. I typed it in at the cart screen in the "Optional Referral Number" is that the right place to put it?
