ah thats a tough location, may have to wait til the weekend now. thanks again i appreciate all the help.

ive got the thing close to running, all the ignition wires are good, brake, ebrake, parking lights good.. but the damn alarm wont see that the doors are closed! this keeps it from activating reservation mode, meaning it wont remote start. grr. i tapped the black/blue wire to the (-)door trigger of the alarm, its very strange.

nvm, the door trigger wasnt working because there were 2 black/blue wires, i tapped the right one now so the door trigger works, still cant get the thing to run tho.

its not reading the ignition... it doesnt show the car is on when i query thru the remote. its strange, ive tested the ign wire with a light and it lights up when the car is on, if checked continuity between my tap and the end of the ignition harness, and the connections between the tap and the alarm module seems to be ok as well. maybe im just missin something here?

browsing thru the electrical diagrams of the car (page 5 of the electrical section if you have the pdf manual)..

i noticed @ the ignition module: starter- W/L, IG1 B/Y , IG2 L/G, ACC W/R

as opposed the the chart posted in this thread where acc was L/G and ACC2 was W/R? whats the discrepency here?

im still working on my remote start, but have people gotten theirs to work with the wiring in the chart?

Does anyone know what kind of relays are used for the door triggers? in other words : Negative Door Lock ( 250ma), Negative door lock (more then 250ma), Positive Door Locks;

the power door locks in the rx8 are very similar to locks in most current dodge/chrysler/jeep vehicles where power lock and unlock use the same wire, but apply a negative trigger through a resistor.

the wire is a lt green wire found in the drivers kick, door harness.

the lock is a negative trigger through a 1000 ohm reisitor, and unlock is a straight negative trigger.

if you have your own relays, use the negative trigger, more than 250 ma.

if you dont have your own relays, buy yourself a 451m (its like 10 bucks retail)

Remote start---totally lost

I can't post a new thread yet but I need help with remote start as well. I have an '04 manual and I'm installing a Viper 5904. The alarm works great! But when I try to remote start, I just get the three attempts, no cranking, then it gives up. No diagnostics flashes, it just says low tach signal (I have the tach wire hooked up and engine checking mode set accordingly). Attached is a screenshot of the excel file I wrote up. Anything marked through is not hooked up. Please help!!!
