reflash or new computer??

I am hoping someone could respond with an approx cost of a reflash and also the cost of a new computer for the car. oem please. and labor costs approx? my car has been on this forum multiple times for discussion and so far any of the "solutions" have fixed anything. the last shop i had it to (after hours of diagnosis) told me they can't figure out whats wrong with, except maybe the computer being bad or it needing a reflash.

i looked back over your posts. you have a vacuum leak?

have you checked you airbox where the three hoses connect? i would bet that one of the plastic nipples to which they connect is broken.

or, have you replaced your cat yet?

well i don't do work to my own car because i don't know enough to. I had a vacuum leak but that is taken care of. I also had it to a dealer and told them that i thought the cat was bad. they said my cat was fine and i don't have any extra money to buy one and without a dealer saying its bad i can't get it replaced under the emissions warranty.

You need to view the cat when it is off the car. Looking into the pipe will reveal if it is broken or clogged. A muffler shop could do this for you pretty cheap.

Are you still under warranty?

A re-flash won't do anything.

Have you rest the ECU since the vaccum leak repair?

You haven't had the fuel pump checked out.

I bet thats your problem. (if not low compression)

A new ECU is bug bucks. If the dealer thought a re-flash would do something they would have done it.

I would assume that the dealer would have reset the ecu after the leak repair..? i can try it if someone sends a link on how to do it.

If the fuel pump is one of the potential problems under the p2096 code, they checked it.

I am still under warranty, its a 2004 with 56,xxx miles.

I also had a compression test done, and it didn't lose compression.

and yes i'm aware that the ecu is expensive, and also if they dealer thought the cat was a problem, wouldn't they have checked that too? i asked them to check it a few times and every time they refused to check.
