Just trying to remove my filter so I can clean it and reoil but running into a minor problem. There isnt quite enough room to pull the filter out and wondering if I need to detach the filter from the RB air horn first or if I need to remove the rubber accordian further along the intake for there to be room. Also, does the filter come off by twisting or just a pull? Any help is appreciated!

 

remove the bellows...then remove the bolts from the back of the intake.

Pull the filter forward and remove....

 

alright, removed the bolts/blue ring and the MAF tube already, figured there would be enough room to remove once you've done that but I have to remove the bellow as well? It is just that one screw on the clamp to remove? looks like it is but dont wanna break anything so just being sure. I know I'm probably making a simple task more complex than it should be but oh well. Thanks for helping!

 

You can get it out of there without removing the bellows, but it's a bitch. Just remove the bellows as it a clamp(or two) just like the others you already loosened and then a couple of hoses. It's just freakin easier that way.

 

I also have to dissconnect the two front coils, but honestly its not that bad to remove.

I know what he's talking about. There's enough flexibility once you remove the clamp (with the help of another person) to keep the bellow out of the way. If you pull straight back you hit the 2 cables are slightly in the way but you can pull up with no issues. Also believe he's talking about the ignition coils but I could be wrong.

 

Sorry yeah it is the coils, and i have a manual. I have to undue the first two in order to take out the filter smoothly, otherwise I feel like im abusing the filter.

 

Also need to remove the strut tower brace

 

Also, be very careful when putting the filter back on, make sure the front clamp is tightened on very well as it holds the air horn in place. ITs easy to not tighten it enough then re-install then hear a bouncing sound then have to do it again

 

all I removed was the bellow and the ring and it came out... took a bit of maneuvering to get it past the brace but it did manage to fit.

 

take off the strut bar to make it even easier

 

lol, might have made that 2 seconds easier but it would take longer to take the bar off up to whoever decides to do it though.

 

lol my horn actually came off when i took it out to clean this past weekend, it was a bitch to put it back in!!
