RacePak G2xtrem datalog ~ tach signal source & programing

Has anyone else successfully setup a G2xtreme GPS track data logger on their Rx8?

I've got one installed but haven't been able to successfull pick up or log the engine tach signal. From the installation guide,

"Engine RPM (tach input tips)
1. Signal requirement: 50% duty cycle, 5-18 volt square wave signal. This is typically the type of signal provided by an aftermarket ignition.
2. Late model vehicle tach signal: Depends upon the vehicle. Some have tach outputs that are compatible with the G2X. Related information can typically be found using an online search relevant to your vehicle.
3. GMR Sensor: The GMR sensor is the best option to obtain a tach signal for coilpak, coil on plug or diesel vehicles. Use of the GMR sensor requires a Power RPM Cable (Racepak PN: 680-CA-PWR-4P)....."

We've been using the GMR sensor, but does anyone know where to get the tach signal from the OBD II port or other source in the cabin?

2nd, what would be the setting for engine/tach pulses with a rotary. The default setting the unit comes with is for a V8. Per the manual's instructions, one is supposed to set the number of pulses from the tach signal for "two revolutions (4 stroke operation) .... this means typically the correct setting would match the number of engine cylinders, i.e. for a V8, set the G2X dash Pulse display to "8"

Any BT,DT with the rotary? My guess is ?? 6 based on 3 lobes, x 2 rotations. Bueller?

Thanks, mike

BTW searched, but didn't find any help in:

if there's some where else to look, let me know.

I have a Traqmate and run the RPM signal off the IntX fuel management.

There is a RPM adapter from MSD that another user has used sucessfully as well....don't have the part # though...might want to look around

hey quick question isn't there any form of signal input or out on the ECU. I've tried to find one and I have been unsuccessful i have about eight pages of info on pinout locations on the ECU and cannot seem to be able to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think they get the rpm by the ignition timing or something. there is no tach signal in the ecu.
