Press Brake 20 times reset.

When you turn on the key, then press the brake twenty times, in very fast presses, what gets reset when the oil gauge goes to the middle and back down?

I have been told this resets the fuel injection timing/crank position sensor, is this true?

Why would I need to do this for better idle?

Why does my long term trims raise by 3 when I do this?

I'm pretty sure the fuel trims get reset so that's why LTFT is off by 3.

here's more details on clearing it: https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...32&postcount=3

No, I have tested the "Press the Odometer button" reset, it does not reset the Long Term Trims, at least from the Data logs showing LTTs.

The procedure that MM mentioned with holding the odometer is incorrect.
This will not reset anything... that menu is used to test inputs/outputs.
I talk about that in this thread:

I suggest reading this for the accurate way to clear the PCM and to understand what you're clearing:

I was told pulling the room fuse will reset both the LTFT and the STFT...and that it will take a few drive cycles for the PCM to relearn the trim settings.
