Second, the BG website has a bunch of stuff for automatic transmissions, oils and flushing machines. But nothing for manual transmissions and no Synchroshift. Even stranger.

Sounds like another ghost product. I'm staying with Redline and Royal Purple.

Thanks for wasting my time.

But why isn't the manual transmission fluids on their website? Can you provide me a link? So what if he runs a race team?

I was on that website before. Looks like they put the manual trans products under "Drive Line Service" instead of "Transmission Service." Those headings could make better sense.

Swoope, what do you use in your trans and LSD?

rp.

works fine for me.. i think that any fluid will not fix a problem.. it might mask it for a while, but if the problem is there it will come back..

rp went in at 30 k miles.. changed at 60k now at 83 k miles all is smooth...

i will say that i do believe in bg products.. the 44k is a great thing..

i too agree the royal purple was a bit strange after i used it at 2k miles... its been notchy. but goes away after the engine warms.
so now i know. i'll just let it sit for a while until the exhaust heat warms it or whatnot.
so i guess everyone experiences this?
****, i'm dissapointed. i've almost get the close to grinding feel...and i've driven stick ??? 10yrs?
i'm only gonna use RP 75/140 for diff now. and maybe mix a lil with ... whats that for the trans by mobil 1? any heavier grade?

Go with Redline MT-90...

When it's cold, yeah there's the close to grinding-but-not-quite feel. That's how it is... In the warm weather, I basically don't get that.

And kennyfrc1 sells BG... As I said, I tried RP MaxGear 75W90 and Redline MT-90 in my tranny, and the Redline stuff is noticeably better, smoother, in every respect.

if you push your street car hard at the autox/track/dragstrip then I highly recommend the Redline 75W140NS gear oil for the trans, you need all the protection there you can get

I thought you used the Shockproof stuff Team, not the NS. And why 75W140 instead of 75W90?

Cuz 140 can protect ur parts better even under hard *** driving.

Go back and reread my post

Shockproof isn't intended as an everyday street oil, I don't drive mine on the street much

judging by all the transmission issues, including your own , I'd say otherwise ...

I admit to that. Even compared to normal everyday drivers, I have a very soft touch when it comes to all control inputs.

the heavy oil will help offset abuse, whether accidental or not

IMO Redline 75W140NS will add life to any RX-8 manual trans, how you drive it will ultimately determine how many miles that ends up being

TRANSMISSIONS - MTL® can be used in most manual
transmissions and transaxles for both street and racing
use unless the manufacturer requires the additional protection
of an SAE 90 or the extreme-pressure protection
of a GL-5. In those situations the MT-90 (GL-4) or
75W90NS (GL-5) will provide good shiftability and synchro
compatibility and extra gear protection.
LightWeight Gear Oil can be used in transmissions calling
for a 75W or 80W GL-5. 75W140NS will provide
greater high-temperature viscosity, reducing gear noise
and rattle.
D4 ATF can be used where the manufacturer
calls for an ATF as the D4 has GL-4 gear protection
and provides the best low-temperature shiftability.
Remember, it's still a 75W oil when cold, the increase only comes as the temps rise, just where you need it.
