Oil Pressure and Start up

Hi All,

2 questions and any help would be appreciate greatly.

My Oil pressure gauge has just started to move off of the half way mark. I have 53 plate 55k miles rx8, the first year of ownership has just passed and the cars oil indicator has always been on the half way mark but just recently it has moved 2 notches over towards the high level. Is this serious? any suggestions what can be causing it?

2nd question, since the day I bought my rx8 the ignition hasnt always been the best. Sometimes it feels like the car is struggling to ignite. Once it does ignite the car roars into action but I dont know why it struggles?

Any help would be very kind.

Chris

1.) Every other car(RX8) I've heard of the oil pressure gauge is about two notches to the right of halfway anyway........I think you are being paranoid. Remember, it's basically a dummy gauge and you either have pressure or you don't.

2.) If you are an 04 model year, then you may have an older starter to which there was a replacement/upgrade one that came out. do some searches on "upgraded starter". Or...............you could have a weakening battery. Have you checked that or was it always kinda slow?

Our oil pressure gauge is really just a binary "no pressure - have pressure" indication, so I wouldn't worry about any fluctuation. Most likely just the gauge mechanism itself.

Case in point tho' for a real oil pressure (and oil temperature) gauge(s).

It moved with one of the reflashes a bit...did your car just get updated recently from a really old flash??
