Nology or Autoexe

Simply put... Has anyone here installed any of these SP wires? I've heard rumors of better acceleration, throttle response, and even increase power. I know that the Nology wires have to be grounded, I'm not sure if the Autoexe have to be...

Thanks in advance.

Nology wires = snake oil. Their claims on their web site do not pass a basic physics or electronics review - it's marketing technobabble, also known as BS.

I installed the Nology wires. Here is a link to my right up. It's a little further down the page.

I've thought of that too... actually, when a manufacturer of certain components boasts claims of "Incredible gains" I tend to be very cautious about their product. I know that AutoExe has been in the business of tuning Mazdas for years...

I may be able to get my hands on some Nology wires for my truck, and see how well the truck adapts...

The stock wires are made by NGK, who also made the wires for the RX-7. They're actually REALLY good wires - fit great, and work great.

Nology's are DEFINITELY snake oil - I've seen dyno tests where people LOST horsepower going to them. Not to mention they cost a fortune.

AutoExe makes good stuff, but also costs a fortune for their wires.

I'd just stick with stock. If you absolutely were DYING to change your wires to something else, see if Magnecor or Taylor are making RX-8 wires in the near future. Their wires are of top-notch quality, and they're fairly priced.

I just went to the Magnecor website, and they pretty much said that the Nology wires were complete trash. Well, I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion...

I will just keep my stock wires for now and continue to research...

Have a look at the wires in the RX-8. Not like the RX-7 where they ran under lots of metal etc. Nice direct run. Changing them, in my opinion, is for looks only. I doubt anyone will get any performance benefits.

But if you like nice bright coloured wires, go for it!

Sounds like Nology, etc. are looking to sell their wires to the same type of people that fall for the "oxygen-free, super-duper, litz-wire, directional speaker wires" for their stereo systems. Don't get me started on that...

I went with the magnecor K85 wires, full EMI supression. I had them on my last vehicle, and they proved to be great so I went with them again on the 8. Very nice.

Yep, funny.

However, they are laughing all the way to the bank. Not with my money.

With 20+ years in the music business as a performer and producer I can tell you that there are some metallurgical technologies that do enhance the quality of sound heard when using a Genelec monitor that costs $5,000 each. Multiply that times 5 and add a set of subs and you know how much money a decent studio invests in speaker technology. Do you think we are going to use 16 guage zipcord to carry the signal? Whether, or not, the average person would hear the difference is the typical consideration in the studio. On the plug wires, I probably wouldn't believe the hype either but I would take the word of someone who actually owned an RX, spent the money on the wires, and could articulate their experiences and opinions on the matter. So often, certain technologies can be explained away by a roomful of scientists who also are shocked when gains are made by that which they so roundly criticized.

Sure could be. So could the dyno they posted in their ad for coil w/ gound set they make. I don't remember the model number or make of the engine from the dyno. I believe it was either Nissan or Toyota 1-4. Either way it was advertising 5 or 10ps gains. Maybe the difference is that this is a coil set... maybe it's snake oil. If they are...I'd like to see actual dynos proving them to be snake oil.

This is EXACTLY what I was trying to say in another thread in the aftermarket parts forum. I had a good experience with Nology on my motorcycle. I didn't have high expectations from it, but it did seem to do something.

Make less hp? I'm not doubting the results seen, but in my application that wasn't true. I'm a seriously big guy riding a 400cc bike with a group of riders 140-170lbs on 1000 -1300cc bikes. So me losing power is going to be noticeable as well as gaining power.

Maybe this is snake oil... but until several buy them, install them and feel them for themselves... even run dynos.

I saw your previous post, J8, and the bottom line is that it worked for you and you were satisfied. If I remember correctly, there were several responses in which the authors were trying to tell you it was all in your head. Here's an analogy. As a professional bassist I have discussed with several non-musicians, as well as professionals, the role the bass guitar plays in music. Additionally, I have shown people the very wide frequency spectrum in which a well-tuned bass guitar resides. Most of the music we hear doesn't take advantage of these properties and, as a result, we don't get to hear many of the sounds the bass and other instruments produce. Here's my conclusion; the very professionals(musicians, producers, and recording engineers) who deliver us the art of music have very little clue as to what the potentails are. I am not necessarily talking about marketing and mass acceptance. I am strictly speaking from a scientific perspective. Several years ago it had been said that the average human doesn'e hear below 60Hz. Every session I was in eventuated in my late-night discussions with the engineer about this matter. Apparently, someone forgot to train these guys on the idea that many frequencies are felt more than heard. I believe much is the same in all areas of technology. Often, the technology itself overshadows the very purpose for which a product was designed.
