turn the wheel all the way to one direction, then the other, turn the engine off, turn it back on. lights should "disappear"

^ so are you happy with it? Or would you have bought a different unit looking back? Perhaps an "official" Mazda one?

are you kidding me? its 99 bux with 50 bux core charge only

throw a coupon in and your starter will be 65 bux + 50 bux core charge with lifetime warranty.

order it from their site and pick it up at store.

nycgps do you have personal experience with both the official mazda updated starter and this one? Im curious if the starter from aap or autozone has the same "quick" turn over of the upgraded mazda one. I mean for 100$ you cant go wrong. Im just curious if these starters are comparable to the original OEM slow cranking starter or the new one?

I never had experience with the Autozone/AAP/3rd party starter.

I've been using the updated starter from Mazda (under warranty) for the past 50K miles, no issues so far BUT ---- its cranking a bit slower than usual lately.

at 65 bux after coupon I might just get one and try it out, but probably won't happen until summer.

Again, its only 65 bux after coupon and it comes with a Lifetime warranty. I really don't see why not.

For common knowledge, my cranking rpms are 185 with plugs installed.

Question, was your battery fully charged/new ?

cuz 185 is kinda slow if you ask me.

Battery is new but the terminals are pretty bad. I've had a new set sitting in the trunk for awhile now... I'm just so lazy lately...
Also the engine was cold if that matters.

this is the cheapest I could find the "Upgraded starter" online with no core.

they stop making "Brand new" OE starter about 2 years ago, at least not from Mazda.

Reman -- OE-Like its about the same, most of the time these "reman" units are actually brand new never been used.

The starter I linked to *is* a brand new unit. It also *is* the upgraded unit with the longer field coils and armature. It is not cheaper than the Autozone reman. It is however, cheaper than all the other "upgraded, new" starters I found listed.

Bwaits, did you order it yet? I was thinking about getting one from there as well. The one I have from autozone works fine, but I'm a perfectionist... And I have a buyer for the AZ one.
