Today I borrowed a scangaugeII from a friend and found a beautiful P2402 and a P0302 hiding in my car. The P0302 is likely caused from me being a jerk in my driveway. I guess I need to stop doing that. The P2402 is still a mystery, but I cleared it and I am hoping that it doesn't come back. I feel pretty good about it, so good that I'm going to try to get the car inspected by the salvage / rebuild title inspection guys real soon....

Is this scangauge worth buying if I can get it cheap? I hear people like them.

That's all I got...

Hey Jeremy, you practicing burnouts in your driveway? ;-)
LOL
My state takes 4 to 6 weeks for a salvage inspection, hope yours is faster.

Nick

On Friday I went for the salvage title inspection and failed because Massachusetts doesn't accept signed over CT titles. I needed to have a new MA title in my name. Any other state is fine I guess, just not CT. So, as expected, Massachusetts is a pain..... again.
[Sarcasm] Luckily, it was only 280 miles of trailering the car, gas money, food money, day off of work, and borrowing my friend for the day. [/sarcasm] Yeap, I suck. I will be trying again in a week or two.

Here is the latest pic of the driveway. I am not sure yet, but I think my truck will be able to smoke the RX8 in a straight line. Curves is a very different story. We'll see once it's on the road.

good luck on the next time. and congrats on the hard work.

does your truck go faster than 14.5 in the 1/4? if it does, it'll walk an rx8.

To be honest, I haven't gotten to the track yet to see what the truck runs. If I were a guessing man, I would say it is in the high 13's - low 14's. Does a stock RX8 really run 14.5 in the 1/4? Maybe it WILL give the truck a run for it's money! That just makes me even more excited to drive it!

Hi Jeremy,

That sucks! Sometimes the red tape is more difficult to navigate through than the actual repair of the vehicle. You seem like a persistent guy, you will get it squared away. At least yours is running!

Mine should be this week, finally! On track for five weeks...stay tuned :-)

Regards,

Nick

Well, I passed the salvage title inspection today, so now it is time to celebrate. I am going to register it tomorrow and I should be legally driving it by tomorrow afternoon.

WooHooo! RX8!

Thank you! The guy that took it for the inspection had the pleasure of driving it 169 miles today, without any troubles, so now I know that it works! Tomorrow I get to drive it myself, I cannot wait!

You grounded your jumper cables at the wrong spot.

lol. Wow, I go from a car that was underwater to a great running, no problem, no CEL car, and people are critiquing how the jumper cables are installed! Tough crowd!

For the record, this picture was about 1 hour after the car arrived at my house. It had a 100% dead battery and I wanted to give it some juice to see what would happen. Sadly, I didn't have a good spare battery with reverse terminals like the RX8's have, to stick into the car for a test. So, I disconnected both cables from the RX8 battery and used jumper cables to extend the wires to a known good battery. Thus, my ground was not in the wrong spot, because these cables were used as an extension of the battery cables themselves.

Thank you for the concern though

You know what is interesting in these pictures, is that the vents coming from under the console and heading to the back seat floors has me wondering something. I'm 6'1" and my right knee gets abused by the limited space there. I might try hacking up my junk and remove this one, and blank off the vent under the console.

I figured I would post a little update on this because I hadn't in a while. We have officially taken the car on two road trips, one was about 2000 miles round trip and the other was about 1500. We are still driving it daily, and everything is working great. There haven't been any weird gremlins that people warned me about. I did have to replace the noisy blower motor and blower motor resistor several months ago, but that has been it since the initial build. Overall, I could not be happier, and I would do it again in a second.

Thanks for all the help that you guys provided during the initial rebuild. I really appreciate it.

Update time.

This car is still a daily driver, year round in Massachusetts, and going strong. Everything is working great still, and just like before, I still have not encountered these mysterious gremlins that people endlessly threatened me about

I did recently find a mouse/chipmonk nest above my cabin air filter after letting the car sit for a few days. A vacuum and new filter sorted that out properly though.

Overall - I still love the car, and look forward to an update in two more years. I'm actually hoping to make it a "weekend" car in the near future, because I have another family member on the way, and could benefit from a slightly larger vehicle. We'll see though!

Haha good idea. Can't I just buy a CAN
enabled OBD scanner from Harbor Freight and reprogram it?
