New engine time..
Nothing good happening yet. They are calling me back but we are hung up on MM saying my mechanic used a pry bar on the front pulley to get it off (thus , doing the damage).
My mechanic is the best wrench I have ever met and doing something like that is not in his wheelhouse.
My second biggest issue is the work that MM claimed to do before the sale is different than what they really do. And if they did what they say they do.. The block would have been assembled correctly and I would not have had this problem.
Before I bought the engine, I confirmed what I was buying. Chris said that they take apart the engine and change the apex seal spring pressure (lower for longer life). Then they blueprint the engine for longer life (plus the WP, oil lines and install kit).
It turns out they never crack the block. They buy a Mazda Reman and add the WP and according to Paul they pop the oil pan and do something with the metering lines.
The whole reason I bought from MM was that I was getting a semi blue printed engine that could have a longer life and not have to waste money pulling an engine.

Mazmart has never clarified what exactly they do with the remans. I always thought that was a little weird. I have brought it up before and when I was engine builder shopping and my direct questions were ignored.
But Paul is a seemingly good guy from what I gather from my dealings with him and his reputation is superb. I hope they get this taken care of.

Interesting info, and disappointing to hear. Contrary to what I had been told previously. Remans are too unstable to not crack the block and at least take a look at what is inside when the opportunity presents itself.
I agree with 9k on Paul though. He is a stand-up guy and I am not aware of even a hint of him screwing over a customer. He will get you taken care of.

Glad to see Mazmart still steps up to the plate.
I am in the process of getting a new engine as well. '04 MT 130k I want to replace other things that may be wearing out at 130k. So far I have on the way:
1.BHR midpipe
2.BHR radiator
3.Silicon hose kit from Racing Beat
4.ReviDuct
5.Stage 1 clutch from Mazdatrix
6.OEM coolant jug (water separation tank)
7.flange for my local muffler shop
What else, if anything would someone of experience recomend replacing or upgrading while all that is apart? the coils wires and plugs are all only a couple thousand miles old. I eventually will get the BHR ignition but I assume mine are good for a while. I'm considering a water pump and starter but havn't ordered them yet. What yall think?

if you dont mind me asking, whats the pricing you ended up around? Im trying to decide if i want to start reserving funds for this too or to just keep that money towards a future vehicle upgrade and trade in the RX.

Right around 5k all said and done. 1200.00 more than it should have but **** happens.
We only put 63 miles on the first engine. The second engine is much stronger!
Would I do it again through Mazmart? Probably. Paul seems like a pretty good guy and I started out telling him I was not in a time crunch. So we tried to fix the problem without wasting money shipping engines around. Paul worked with MazdaNA to get a replacement and talked my mechanic through the mods.

Hmm. Second full tank of fuel and it's still a bit pingie. Of course I'm keeping out of sixth gear and not bogging it. I checked the plugs to make sure they were not swapped.
Any ideas?
