Need Random Missfire Help
Ok so here the scoop...... I did a little search but don't have much time to do a big one... I cam up with nothing... I work 7 days a week 16hrs a day 5 of those days.... so I have no time really to do big searches......
Anywho..... I got a new motor in my baby back in Aug-Sept of 07.... ever since then I have gotten Random missfires.... I've gone to the dealer several times for this issue.... Have had the coils changed twice.... spark plugs and wires changed as well recently..... My Basic warranty is up.... Powertrain is up in Feb.... I need this solved soon....
Any ideas on what it could be..... I want to do a compression test but don't know what the dealer will charge me if everything checks out AOK..... I will search some more but how would I do a "generic" compression test using an Anolog gauge? I want to do one myself before I take it in on monday..... My brother has all necessary tools imaginable..... Sunday we will be doing the throwout bearing and clutch master cylinder so any help before than is Grand.....
Thanks to all helpful and useful posts......

Good luck getting any help...I've had the same issue since my engine replacement in Sept '06. Dealer has replaced plugs, coils, and wires 7 times now and still the same problem. Only thing I would suggest is talking them into replacing the Eccentric Shaft Position Sensor. That may solve the problem.
I myself have had the PCM replaced, the ESPS, and the entire igition system replaced and I still get misfires all the time.

Thanks all for responding... I will be changing the eccentric shaft position sensor when I have time to buy it and swap out. Hopefully that's what it is....

Greetings Gents
Had the same problem with my car after I put in a new motor-reset the ESS and all your misfiring woes will be gone. Turn ignition to on and press break pedal 20 times within 8 seconds oil meter will sweep half way then you good to go.
