Yeah, its white smoke, seems steamy almost even when its 100 degrees out. I only use Shell 93' and it has smoked regardless of which Shell I have filled up at.

No premix. I do put LCD's Fuel Power Plus (FP Plus) in with every tank of gas though. An additive, but not quite the traditional premix others are putting in.

Well right and wrong stuff is debatable. TC3W 2 stroke is bad for your cat, Jaso is okay but synthetic non TC3W is the best. Some of us are experimenting.

first thing would do is try a different gas.. what you describe is pretty damn odd in warm climates!

btw, you have never had a coolant loss issue. this just happens when you mix?

maybe some dry gas? and dont get me started on octane!

beers

No, no coolant loss but now you got me worried (let me go check my coolant). I guess next fill up I will try another brand. The smoke is just like when its cold outside. Yes it only happens when I premix and it only smokes after start up and then after a few minutes it disappears. I ran a full tank without premix and it did not smoke.

so it only happens at startup then goes away?

the engnine does run 13.5afr til about 120-130coolent temp, perhaps that much premix causes the smoke at such a low engine speed.

Because of what you were using.

Listen carefully: Idemitsu premix does not smoke in our cars. If it smokes in your car it's your car not the premix. All the stuff you are trying is not helping you.

Do it. Doooo it.

Yeah, you are probably right. Maybe Hoss can lend me some Pro Tek R and I can see if I smoke with that.

Sure. I don't think I smoked with that when I used it.

I want to add my review for my premix usage since I ran two different types and combinations.

First: I purchased the car with 21k miles and I wasn't sure what the previous owner did in terms of maintenance. Going by reputation of companies and seeing how Pettit Racing did very well in the racing world - I purchased a gallon of Protek R. The Protek R was definitely a different color than other premixes on the market. It seemed to have smooth my idle a tad bit, but not much. I didn't notice any better MPG with the Protek R, but the car revved smoothly and pulled a bit better to redline. When I ran without premix, the car had a slight hesitation in the upper RPMs.

Second: Well....after I finished my Protek R, I took the advice of many members and ordered Idemitsu Premix from Mazdatrix. It had the same qualities as the Protek R, but now my car idled just a tad better. I also noticed a 1-2 mpg increase in my MPG with similar driving styles. I also liked the fact that it looked like oil and not some purple blueberry fruit juice concoction.

Third: I also took more advice from this forum and ordered the FP Plus additive from LCD. I now use 2oz of FP Plus and 4oz of Idemitsu (I'm running the stock OMP system). There was no real difference in terms of smoothness or MPG with the addition of FP Plus. I just felt that its properties can only help, not harm the engine.

Fourth: I'll be deleting the use of the stock OMP system via Richard Sohn OMP adapter. I'll report back and let you guys know.

With the Sohn adapter, I plan to switch over to a synthetic oil as well. I'll write a review for you guys when my adapter comes in.

Thanks for the post, any info is appreciated. For me, I don't give a crap about gas mileage or idle I just want this motor to last a little while so I can have some track fun and can save some money for my next big purchase.

what you describe is normal premix or not.. it is the h2o turning to steam in your exhaust as it warms up..

if it is a big issue.. you might change gas stations for a while.. premix has not a thing to do with this..

beers

Me too CM is my favorite. Too expensive to use as premix though.
