if you want to play it safe go with idemitsu found at mazdatrix.com
if you don't know what idemitsu is, it's a rotary specific premix

this stuff is not that hard to figure out...just from some of the info in this thread you guys should know what to get

I'm sticking with Redline Racing 2 stroke, I know a few teams in KONI series used it religiously with no problems. Also, SpeedSource use to use Valvoline 2 stroke...not sure what they are using now.

omg

What do we recommend,
ANY Good quality ALL SYNTHETIC 2 Stroke oil, generally used in 2 stroke Motorcycles but not neccesarily...

Rated-Specifying ...ISO-L-EGD, JASO FC, API TC

I use Amsoil Saber Pro.
Idemitsu
Redline
Motul
Quaker State
Pennzoil
Castrol
Quicksilver
Texaco Havoline
Stihl

Plus many others...

Just make sure it is not TCW-3 or marine use, and NO CASTOR "OIL".
Many so called upper cylinder lubricants have Castor oil as their Base (main composition), as I said YOU ONLY get what you pay for.

Take everything you read with a grain of salt and do your own research and make your own decisions.

To get more info man! This is my way of doing research. Yeah and I am leaning towards the Amsoil myself now.

Question. Does anyone else's car smoke a lot at start-up? I am running a cat-less midpipe that did emit a little bit of white smoke before with the old engine but ever since I started running premix on the new motor it emits quite a bit of dark smoke for the few minutes.

On the new motor I have not gone above 4k or floored since I got it back with teh new motor. I currently have about 700 miles on the new motor.

Nope, I'm running a catless midpipe also...I don't have any smoke at all. How much 2 stroke are you running?

That's not a lot, I don't really have answer for you then. Atleast it's black smoke...

IDK but if you're not sure of the pros and cons you can't argue with the fact that Idemitsu was made for our engines and Mazdatrix will ship it to your doorstep.

Yeah, Idemitsu is on the list but sometimes people just buy the more expensive product when in fact its no better than the alternative. I am still absorbing all this. Marketing is a powerful tool.

Weird!
word to the wise,

there is no real answer, just opinions and observations..

ash covers this stuff very well..

some notes.

i have used lots of different 2 stroke oils over the years. in the learning process.. i am still suffering from some of it..

have been running mmo for a couple of months. street duty.

stuff i have noticed. easy to mix, easy to find, works fine.

ran it on the track this weekend. doubled up on it.

ran fine. no issues, but i dont think it helps the motor seal as well. as in oil to the seals..

i am used to my exhaust tips being clean and lightly gray after a track day. well not this time. but this is with a getting old motor.

so who knows.

to confuse you more. had one tank of 24.4 mpg on the way to the track. go figure.

and btw, mmo at walmart 3.49 i recall.

working fuel pump priceless!

beers

So us asking a question is not a form of getting more info and doing research? We can read through these threads all day and get an idea of what people use but if someone has never done this before, why waste money buying a bunch of stuff and having it shipped when there might be a quality product at Wal-mart that one can use to LEARN to do the pre-mix, possibly feel the difference in the car, etc etc....

Very backwards response.... you are asking for help by starting the thread to do research yet others just aren't allowed to do the same thing in the same thread...

Very elitists of you....

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!! Something is lost in translation here. By no means did I mean to offend. I just meant that I started this thread to add to the million other threads about it. If someone learns something from my thread great. I just meant I started this this thread to try and gain some additional knowledge on the subject and I have. All opinions and input are welcome. I apologize if that post offended or was taken the wrong way.

we have told you what to do, get off your computer and go to the damn store and look for something that is not tcw-3 and is 2 stroke. if none of the normal stores have it, then got to an motorcylcle/atv dealer and see what they have. we can't tell you what your local stores stock, shesh... if nobody has anything, ask if they can order something for you.

I found motorcycle 2 strock at shucks that did not have tcw-3, and had all the better certificates it was Valvoline rand.

just get up and look!!

Okay so after searching pretty much every store locally i think I have settled on idemitsu. I figure better safe than sorry and if you buy it by the case its a good value.
