Loss of Power due to Aftermarket Navi and DVD
Hi guyz please help me out
i added my aftermarket Kenwood navigation and dvd player few months ago
have them done by a local audio shop and all products are connected properly through the Kenwood carportal
i noticed that the throttle response is not as keen
also the vibrations are noticeable when idling/pulling off from 1st gear
is it because of the navigation is constantly consuming and eating power off from the car?
or is it something else causing the problem?
thx guyz

Honestly, I don't mean to be rude. But I'd like you to answer this question given the following facts/approximations.
Nav System Power Consumption = maybe 25 watts including display (that's a liberal guess, it's probably less).
1 HP = 746 Watts.
15 HP = approx pwr required to cruise 70mph
232 HP = max power output of your engine (assuming it's in working order).
Use the above to answer your question.
If you cannot, then in the dark, turn on your nav with lights on. Notice any headlight dimming?
Turn the nav off and turn your A/C on which might use a few HP. Notice your lights dimming (due to load on engine and fan load on electrical system)?
Now try again to answer your question.

One would only hope. The clue that it may not be is the "installed it a couple of months ago" or perhaps a very, very good looking blond (female of course).

I'll bite then ... a little...
A couple weeks back I finished a multi-month install of a full blown carpc.
Components added:
Carnetx P2140 12V Regulator / Power Distribution Unit
Homebaked Travla C134 Mini-Itx w/ VIA EPIA-M 10000G 1.0GHZ CPU
Lilliput 7" Touchscreen LCD
802.11B Wifi
Bluetooth
GPS
Grom Car2PC Integration Adapter
RF Thumbpad
2 USB (Self Powered) 4 Port Hubs
Total draw = 6 AMPS @ 12V = 72W
... and no, my headlights do not dim

lol @ the oil pressure gauge. I understand the "reasoning" for doing this is to keep owners from freaking out when the oil pressure is low at hot idle. Considering the question asked by the OP in this thread, can you blame them?
