"klunks" hard when put into gear

I have a problem with the gears on my rx8. It "klunks" really hard when i throw it into the lower gears and sometimes the higher gears. im hoping that i dont have to replace the clutch to fix this. what could be causing this?

What happens when you gently select a gear instead of "throwing" it in ?

How long has the oil been in the trans. It may be as simple as doing an oil change.

Make sure they topped off the trans fluid... sometimes they just put in the recommended amount and sometimes it needs a little more...

I'm not sure what brand of trans fluid was put in. Jiffy Lube did it

They probably didn't even change it. Your first screw up was taking it to Jiffy Lube...

Brian, you may want to adjust the free play at the pedal pad, it should be between 5mm and 15mm , about 1/4" to 1/2".

Wow that's crazy. I had no idea. I guess I won't go to Jiffy Lube anymore
