I'm gonna do some more pulls on the ride home.
I talked to the tech at Mazda. He said that was low for a dyno jet and he'll give me a hand doing a real compression test late this week at his own shop(and tester).
In the mean time he's working on an rx8 that has hot start issues, told me to run seafoam in my tank, and run the zoom cleaner through.
I'll post more results later.
**EDIT**
Okay, so tested my SSV, its good like i previously mentioned. Also tested the VDI actuator - that holds vacuum as well.
I found a the little red plug from my RB intake was leaking, so I fixed that.
Did some more pulls.
2nd gear:
6972rpm 189.90gm/sec
7639rpm 208.98gm/sec
8306rpm 215.54gm/sec
3rd gear:
6769rpm 183.61gm/sec
7102rpm 196.05gm/sec
7494rpm 198.71gm/sec
7901rpm 211.49gm/sec
8214rpm 209.86gm/sec
8487rpm 215.14gm/sec
Ignition advance, or IGN ADV(*) stayed at 30* the whole time under WOT, along with intake air temperature starting at 16*C and ending up at 14*C (60.8*F - 57.2*F) Hmm, wonder if RB duct was a cause of that.
I can't get the damn scan tool to print, or save on my computer so I'll have to mess with it to get some graphs.
Next thing I'm thinking about testing is the vacuum chamber...I tried hooking up my vacuum gauge to both of the hoses that supply vacuum to both actuators, neither let me pull vacuum. But it's normal.
I hooked up my vacuum gauge to the little loop ontop of the UIM, near the throttle body. My vacuum read 13inhg.

While that is essentially true, almost all dyno runs that have been done on the RX-8 are in 4th gear because of the incredibly long ramp time (and very high drum speed) in 5th gear.
You would be spinning the drums at 164 MPH at redline.
The effective gear ratio doesn't really matter.

Gotta take off my RB intake& duct, and my catch can. Schedule an appointment.
I've got a specific guy I request to work on the car, he does a great job.
That and I've got to scrounge up oil change receipts.
I'll update this thread once I get the engine approved. Which I'm sure won't be a problem.

Figured I'd update this thread.
Engine arrived sometime mid this week, but the Tech I prefer is already doing another RX8 engine so I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to do back-to-back engines.
I was worried about oil change receipts since the parts guys at my work had been giving me oil filters for free(unknowingly) and the oil never gets billed out.
Luckily what I did was fold open my maintenance log and set it on the front seat when I dropped off the car.
I called the Tech after he ordered the engine and he said there was no issue. Helps to know people I guess.
Anyway I'll be dropping off the car this coming Monday. While it's being ripped apart I snuck a ACT prolite, counterweight, and street clutch into the mix of new parts going in.
It should be nice to have an engine with compression, and a lighter flywheel to move through the revs faster. The Tech even told me my car revved ridiculously slow.
So now I've got a bunch of premix, and oil filters with the receipts on standby for this engine.
Anyone recommend premixing more during engine break-in? I typically do 4-5oz with 10-11gallons of fuel.
Can't wait!!

you can premix on ur break in's, but if I were you I will change the engine oil out in the first 100-500 miles. oil is used to collect junk and lube. when the engine is breaking in it will collect A LOT OF junk, Even Mazda shown a picture of what oil might look like at break in, nasty.
other than that hmm not much. and enjoy your new engine

Got my car back yesterday.
Awesome. To sum it up in one word.
The prolite revs quick, and flawless.
The ACT clutch has very little pedal effort...I'd say less then OEM, yet has the bite and grip of a performance clutch. Which is exactly what I wanted.
The engine fires up like a champ now, hot or cold. Which was totally annoying before.
Altogether feels way more responsive - especially in low RPMs.
3rd gear is actually fun and powerful again.
I've been taking it easy until I feel the engine is fully "broken in".
I talked to the tech at Mazda when I picked it up. He told me there is no special break-in procedure because Mazda runs each Renesis on an engine dyno before they ship them out. He said he typically sees some light carbon traces in the intake ports when they arrive.
I'm gonna still take it easy for the next 1k miles, and change the oil.

Bump to this old thread but I just went for round two on the same dyno.
Made 178/139 which isn't terrible. Meh. The damn ignition pickup kept screwing up. Hence no lines in high rpm...damnit!!
Sidenote AFR is terrific! 12.5ish in the high rpms, last time IIRC it was in the 10s!
Only variable that changed is I do have the Racing Beat Street Flash and I've been premixing ~8oz regularly now.
