Last time I let a shop do an oil change while they did my inspection it cost me a brand new clutch, do it yourself it cost the same regardless except you wont have to worry about what someone making minimum wage didn't do that is gona cost you later down the road

Never tightened the oil filter, leaked into the bell-housing saturating the clutch disk. Created an awesome smell as well.

This was a Mazda Tech to say the least, god only knows what those crap shops are capable off

You ask this question as if all Pep Boys stores are the same. Like any chain, some are run well and others are staffed by meth heads and high school drop outs with zero training. Do it yourself.

Probably dumping the clutch at 9,000 RPM on the "test drive".

+1 i ordered coils from out pepboys, and they lost them, twice.

i do have the dealership change my oil, its like $30, which is cheaper than i can do it my self, plus i don't have to deal with the old oil
