have to ask a question
saw that the 2009 and up have a different engine cover with a flap that has the oil dipstick and tube visible
my 2007 is hard to reach and difficult to see the oil level on
can i convert to the 2009 set up
is there a better way?
tried searching but nothing came up

The engine cover is completely optional. I hung mine on my garage wall for the 8 years I owned the car.

 

its the whole reaching down the back and finding the dipstick
with my vision I need a flashlight sometimes
just like the newer version and wanted to know if somebody converted their set up to something else

 

I used to keep a small flashlight in the glovebox for this reason.

 

IIRC you don't need to remove the cover to access the dipstick. You can use your phone as flashlight.

That said, removed the cover. I think I gained 1-2lbs of weight savings. Boo-yeah!

 

My engine cover stays in the garage. It’s just an annoying piece of plastic designed to make the engine bay look pretty.
