2007 rx8

It seems this is the only place that I'm able to post at the moment. So I'll ask a question here. I'm thinking about buying a 2007 RX8 (212hp) but I hear that the care is very temperamental, and that you need to add oil at every other time you fill up your gas tank. I just thought since it is a '07 it would have caught up with the 21st Century instead of the 20th around 1956-1978 where you had to mess around with the car to keep it going. The ones I have found are at 55k for about 8-9k. One other question. I have seen the RX8 PZ and I believe a few come with a Turbo (Not Sure) So I'm guessing every 1000 miles you need to keep adding oil, and around when the car reaches 80k your rotor no longer seals and you need to replace the entire component. Correct??

Thank You.

Welcome, read the new owner stickies to answer your questions & assumptions.
I guess temperamental is accurate, it's an enthusiasts car.
It definitely needs someone to maintain it properly, fill up with premium gas every time, change oil regularly, and be mindful of it's special needs.
Oil has to be added because the rotary engine is designed to inject oil into the engine to lubricate & cool the housings.
There is no set limit for longevity, some have had well over 100k before encountering problems, others much earlier.
I personally love it & think it's a great car.

It's not that tempermental, but it requires some extra care. If all you want to do with a car is put in gas and drive, this isn't really a good choice.

If you're looking at a 2007, you're considering an eight year old sports car. That alone has some risk.

The reason it has to be filled up with oil is by design, because it burns some like a 2 stroke. Speaking of, a common mod is to install a separate reservoir filled with actual 2stroke oil, then all you have to do is top that up periodically. The main reason rotary engines have a bad rep is people that don't understand how they work think they need to be maintained the same way as piston engines, then call them unreliable when they break down. Usually their life motto is something like 'thinking hurts so I try to avoid it'.

There was no turbo RX8 ever produced.
