On Redline's site it states their 2 stroke is castor based, which I believe someone posted in a different premix thread is bad for rotaries (leaves carbon deposits and ash if I remember correctly).

Any oil gurus want to chime in on Redline 2 stroke? Renesis safe or not?

No, you misunderstand me - I meant that in regards to the comment about avoiding TWC3.

I'm not sure I understand this. Wouldn't that put too much oil into the combustion chamber, resulting in carbon buildup?

In alomst 6 hours of RPM track driving I used 2 qts of oil. Normal driving it would take me over 6,500 miles to have to add 2 qts of oil. I was not sure if running Pre-Mix would reduse the amount of oil an 8 uses when on the track. My conclusion is pre-mix doesn't reduse the amount of oil the MOP adds when on the track. I am in fact leaving now for Summit point for some more carbon removal. I will not be able to post again till next week.

your MOP isn't going to know or care if you have premix, so it would operate as it would normally...

Agreed. And I also conceed (basically from ignorance) there may be a need for premix in track applications.

However, for normal driving why doesn't the combination of pre-mix and the MOP result in TOO MUCH oil in the combustion chamber?

Well I guess its because MOP did not provide enough lube in the first place.

and dont forget, we're doing like over 200 to 1 ratio. not 50 to 1.

I plan on running this amsoil product for autocross and track day events only at a 300:1 ratio

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atp.aspx

And will use the lucas ucl during regular fill ups

What Im thinking is, Im going to try those premix as much as I can, and post some pictures of the actual remix box(hope I dont get sue for posting that!) and my actual butt dyno/feel results.

First step , I ordered myself a case A idemitsu premix.

Next, as soon as it arrives, Im going to dump it into my 8

after maybe a quart of 2, Im going to move on to the next brand (keep the rest of the 10 quarts in the case, and will use it all after Im done with the testing.)

2 quarts each brand.

Ok, I was at Autozone around 9 something. and I grab a quart of Pennzoil Marine 2 cycle premix(pic posted @ first post).... but I have no "contatiner" to do it. So I got this piece of ****. some StarMix 2 stroke oil as my *bottle/container*....

I was looking at it and it only cost 99 cents, it has no Rating or whatsoever on the bottle ...... the bottle is about 4 fl oz size(on sticker it saids 3.2 .... but I saw some 4 oz markings on the side so ...) ... I said to myself *hmm perfect size for my experiment*

So I got both. Step outside of the store, and I pour that *StarMix* thing out .... not to my 8, I just pour it out to that Recycling Oil thing cuz I just want the bottle in the first place, Damn, That Crap was so *thick* and dark, I know color doesnt matter when it comes to oil but that thing was reeally reallly thick. Good god I didnt dump it into my engine .... pour the thick stuff out, then I pour the Pennzoil that I just bought into that Bottle .... and then pour it into my Tank and fill it up with BP 93 Octane.

Hmm After startup and drove around say maybe 15 minutes. I notice that the engine is smoother. not alot but you can feel it, especially people like me who drives my 8 around everyday for at least 40 miles or so.

When I got home, I look at the bag again and that *99 cents StarMix bottle* is LEAKING ! I was like wtf and I took it out, it looks like that bottle's seal freaking suck and the oil just leaked all over .... good god I put it in a plastic bag so it didnt mess my trunk up .... so I dump that crap away ... total waste of 99 cents.

Im gonna go ahead and buy a bigger, REAL bottle about 6 oz or so. I think 4 oz(or 3.2 ? if the bottle label is right) might be a little too *little* for a tank of gas. What you guys think ?

So for the most effective use of 2 cycle oil application, confirming it's using a mix ratio into the FUEL and not the OIL (fill)?

Does this seem to work close to or just as well as, say, a MOP mod using a 2 stroke oil reservoir exclusively for the seals lube?

Someone talked about that before, actually , some of the FD owners have some sort of device like that.

But most people just do premix. If you really love your car , its pretty hard for you to "forgot to add premix" routine

Im going to find more oil today. and try to take more pictures of it.

In the very beginning when I started to premix, I would sometimes forget to premix (I missed 2 of my first 4 tanks). However, it's now part of the routine of a fuel stop. It's actually weird to not premix now when I fill up a piston engined car.

I just finished my second premix tank as well.

Seriously speaking the engine rev alot smoother than without the premix.

Im still using the Pennzoil, first tank I added about 4 oz by using that PoS bottle from the picture above, after it leak on the first night I threw it away, went to the container store and got myself a leak proof 4 oz bottle. Second tank I dump about 5 in it.

Feels just right now. 5 should be ok.

This morning, i add 7 oz of idimitsu. i turned off the radio and windows and started to pay attention to how the engine is reacting. for one thing i realised i needed new breaks (sorry off topic). Definitely, engine is smoother, and it responds faster. in just first 1 hour of driving. my exhaust tone also sounds louder or maybe its just me.

am i using too much oil?

i spoke to one of the amsoil reps on the phone about what the best choice would be for our 8's. he said the saber professional synthetic premix is designed to work in small high-revving engines. he also said it is intended for machines requiring a lean mixture of premix:gas (like our 8's). the oil is intended to provide 2x the lubrication of other synthetics. for ex- an application that requires a ratio of 100:1 can use this synthetic at 200:1.

i ordered a box of 12 - 3.5oz. bottles. i poured in a bottle along w/ 3.5oz. of Lucas upper cylinder lube w/ a full tank of 93 octane (the usual). the engine revs up faster & idles better than ever. i also use synthetic engine oil (royal purple 5w30) & had the recall performed. i couldn't be any happier w/ the way the car is running...

just to let you all know... these bottles of premix are the perfect size. no hassle whatsoever! they're also perfect to measure the lucas oil in. i simply empty the bottle into the tank & then fill the same bottle up w/ the lucas & throw it in the tank as well...

ratios:
3.5oz of premix + 3.5oz of lucas lube = 7oz premix combo
7oz combo / 14 gal of gas @ fillup = 256:1

Sounds good.....

That looks like a really good mix, Amsoil has some great 2 stroke oils.

I think 7oz is to much. I believe 4oz per fill up (400:1) is all thats needed.
