Gas/Oil Premix Thread
I was at Rotary Performance in Garland, Texas asking the guys about the pre-mix thing and they told me dont bother.
They said they could sell me the bottle to make a penny but on a daily driver it doesnt matter, the place it would matter is on a race car.

Well, my OMP is no longer "P"-ing, so premix is saving my motor.
I've always had zero oil consumption.
On my dyno session a few weeks ago, I marked the oil lines with a sharpie to show where the bubbles are in the lines. They didn't move after 34 WOT dyno runs.
YMMV.

I have never had much oil consumption and believe that may be related to the early demise of my engine. Since AZ is potentially one of the worst environments you can put an RX-8 into, think I will premix when I get it back with replacement engine.
I don't want to start another synthetic/dino discussion but my searches here and elsewhere are leading me to believe dino oil in a heavier weight is a better decision for this climate along with premix.

If you get the new, updated, flash you may not need any pre-mix. I have found that since I got mine pre-mix adds no benefits. I would still do an A/B after the new engine goes in and see what you discover. My experience is strictly anecdotal, though.
Funny, but that's exactly what Idemitsu told me.
I was seeing fuel economy improvements, like many of us who pre-mix do, when I was doing it but since getting the updated flash I see no improvements in fuel economy and my exhaust(with no cat) now smells like a Toro snowblower in the morning when it didn't previously. I can definitely smell the oil in the exhaust when, befor, I could not. Just my own experiences and observations but MM's right in that it is good insurance if you have any doubts. With my engine right now, I don't.
What does "YMMV" mean?

I seem to like the U but my observations may be skewed a bit, given my self-imposed debacle with the injector harness. It idles smooth as glass and starts/idles in the cold much better than it used to. Those of us who haven't made all the major mods might be better suited for the before/after.
Better mileage with pre-mix=better apex/corner sealing and wear doesn't it?

I think the current newest flash is one revision newer than the recall flash.
if I didnt do the RB flash I would update it, but nah, dont feel like to throw another 150 down the drain. Premix 4 oz is fine for me.
