Highway8, I recently ran a tank at 2 oz per gal (66:1) and it seemed like it was taking longer to start? Do you have that problem? (I have new stock coils, new RB plug wires and 7,000 mile old plugs.)
I dont but I am inly premixing 200 to 1. Most of my oil is from the OMP which increases the injection rates under heavier loads and higher RPM's.

Great deal on Idemitsu.

I have flexed my muscles and worked a deal. Shipped straight from Idemitsu you can get 10 cases of premix for $60 each with shipping to a USA address.

Or

$60 a case plus shipping cost from california for less then 10 cases. Average cost will be around $20, less for west coast more for east coast.

Best deal is obviously to buy 10 cases, so get your local buddies to go in on the deal with you.

PM me if interested.

I am buying 10 cases for the SF Bay Area Guys for $60 pick up in fairfield. I will also take some with me to track days.

Thats fine.

I put anywhere between 4-8 oz, I just eyeball it using markers on the bottle.

If you go for a track day, go for 8 to 12oz.

TX Question

I just bought my 2007 RX8, Dark Metal Grey, I am using Castrol 5W20, is there a benefit to not use Synthetic Oil? I am not because I was told not to, and I am interested in premixing as well, is there a premix i can purchase from Autozone or a local Auto dealer b/c they do not sell Idemitsu products in any shop in Austin.

Do the 2007 RX8's have the same engine issues that the 2004-2006 ones do? Edmunds.com has every year of RX8 from 2004-2006 as having major engine issues but the 2007 having little to no issues? any info on these two questions would be deeply appreciated!!

Cheers M8's!!

They did tinker with the ECU thru 2006, but it doesn't solve the problems. The 2009 is the first year with significant improvements. You are on the right path with premixing. I would use at least 1/2 oz per gallon of a quality 2 stroke oil. A mechanic I know is a snowmobile racer and he like Yamaha's 2 stoke oil.

I would use at least 10W30 oil, might as well stick with conventional and keep your receipts for the 100k warranty.

The high power 6 port Series I Renesis stayed the same for the most part from 2003-2008. The 06's,07's, and 08's are just not in the higher mileage range for the most part so failures are not as prominent but they are happening more and more. My buddy is a rotary tech and he has done a lot of 06+ engine replacements but they are higher mileage cars.

I use synthetic 2 stroke as premix from Academy, but I have a SOHN adapter and no cat. If you have a cat you need a 2 stroke that is JASO rated because it's easier on the cat (supposedly, there has not been any real testing).

Say my name out loud, and then go buy some 0w40.

I use 0w40 Mobil 1 in my 07 6spd auto, get great gas mileage (23mpg on I10 at 80mph-yeah it's the limit and maybe 85 soon).

8 owners have seen wear on the front stationary bearing running anything under 10w40, and your used engine definitely needs it in hot Texas.

I've used 1/2 oz/ gallon 91-93 oct Mobil 2t since new (26k now); the extra slight power and gas mileage will pay for it.

I like following what snowmobile racers like since my premix isn't made anymore.

Also, go put a vacuum gauge on your 8 at idle after warmed up, and come tell us how many inches of vacuum.

Odd that the distributor would contradict the recommendation on their own website and printed on the label.

I use 5w20 dinosaur slime in the winter. 10w40 is going in next week. I've never even considered synthetic.
If you like sled oil, I highly recommend legend zx2sr.

I bought from Rotary Performance, I talked to a tech there and he said to fill only 2 oz per 10 gallons of gas, so actually at 15.9 gallons about 3 oz per tank. He said to only add 1/2 per gallon if I use the track, which I dont.

Okay JCruz where do you live? Are you talking about the Rotary Performance in Garland, Texas? If so who did you talk to?

Reason im asking is I know those guys (Ari, Chris , Dave ) and I dont believe they would tell you that, they know alot about these cars. That is also where I buy my Idemitsu Premix and the first time I bought a case they told me to 1/2 oz per gallon (What it says on the instructions) and if im gonna track add a little more...

Meh, 1 oz per gallon is what a lot of race guys use on the track. I use 1/2 per gallon, usually around 8oz because I always run to empty.

I've never heard of anyone saying 3oz for 13 gallons until now. I consider 1/2 oz per gallon bare minimum.

Isn't that like a 640:1 ratio?
