What's the point again? Isn't the engine designed to provide the necessary oil for proper operation for normal use (i.e., street driving, etc).

What's the "power loss" problem you keep referring to swoope?

Is too much premix oil kills the engine?
First time of using premix~ I think I put tomuch on!!!!
9gallon of gas and I pour 9oz of premix on the tank~! god T-T
later I found It should be 1/2oz per gallon~~~~ right? T-T
If tank filled up with 9gallon, should be pour 4.5oz of premix?

if added 9oz and nine gal and the tank is full you are ok... if you were low then put in 9oz and put 9 gal in. well fill the tank up and you will be ok...

you are not really going to damage anything.. you are just wasting oil for street driving...

btw.. ah t-t doesnt help any..

so fill it up.. and if you are just doing street na. 3 to 4 oz is fine.. unless you have the problem..

Well the premix is not really about performance, is more like longevity of the seals and rotor housing.

Its not something that required to do so, but its more like a precaution measures, and OMP can fail. What if it fails in the middle of highway ? Do you want to tow your car? but if u have premix, even 6 oz or so, U should be able to drive it home without too much damage to your engine. (I put 6oz usually, When its hot I put 8 oz)

 

I use premix, 3 to 4 oz during fillup, because I feel it is just a good idea, extra protection, oil in the locations that the OMP does not cover as well due to how it is injected. I started at about 2.5k miles and now have 5k and will keep using it. I have had no problems, before or after. The amount you are using is very low, something like 1/420, 1/320 ratio.

 

I bought synthetic blend penzzoil Marine TC-W3 today but when I saw the list on first page againe it was full synthetic~ am I ok to use synthetic blend on my 8? and premix oil that I used last time was the penzzoil marine premiun TC-w3 it doesn't have any discription about full synthetic or synthetic blend

I noticed that the first page lists Mobil 1 Racing 2T but it looks like no one has tried it. I use a blend of 3oz of it and 3oz of Lucas UCL and seems to be working fine.

 

I cant even find a place that sells mobil1 racing! Call me stupid.

I think it may have been discontinued because it keeps getting harder and harder to find.

 

Mobil 1 Racing 2T is sold at Autozone. If it's not near the motor oil rack, ask the clerk, they may keep it in the back during the off season. The reason I say that is, the original market is the 2 stroke motocross rider, but 4 strokes are taking over motocross and Mobil is starting to market 2T to the chainsaw/stationary engine maket. BTW I have been using the Mobil/Lucas premix combo for about 5 months without a problem. Better safe than sorry so why not premix.

 

Why wait?

If the gas in the tank has no pre-mix in it, then you can easily add the proper amount for a whole tank (6 oz for 15 gal) and top it up.

 

Wow. I just did this tonight and what a difference. I am not going to be so dogmatic as to say that everyone MUST do it, but if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it.

I was not having any problems with my car except that the idle is just rough enough to be noticeable. I put in Lucas UCL and basic Home Depot synthetic 2-stroke oil and filled up. I then went for a short drive and the car immediately felt much better. Throttle response is better everywhere and it definitely feels stronger above 6k. The idle doesn't feel any different, but I can't complain with the other effects.

I am not exaggerating. It felt like a different car.

 

Just a thought - if premix really helped that much , your engine had/has a problem .

I spoke with my dealer's rotary guy when I picked up my car, and I asked him if I should premix, and his response was "absolutely not." He's been working on rotaries at least 15 years iirc.

Now I'm really confused, but I think I'll try it for a tank or two.

 

Pre-mix oil is the one place that the term "synthetic" definitely belongs!

Synthetic two-stroke oil is mostly made from poly-isobutylene, a long chain olefin (PIB is not an "oil", hence synthetic) that has tremendous lubricity, yet burns like gasoline, with no smoke and leaving no deposits.

Castor oil based products would never say "synthetic" on the label, because they use natural old-school gummy veggie oil.

TCW-3 is pretty poor in most areas, due to it's high emphasis on being bio-degradable when it is exhausted into a lake (modern synthetics can do much better) it is also renowned for building up slimy jello deposits in the jug or in your oil tank. Maybe a little TOO bio-degradable?
