Fuel Pressure Gauge

So I just bought a fuel pressure gauge to complete my gauge pod. I did a little searching and noticed no one had posted anything about where they installed the sensor. Does anyone have any tips/tricks before I go out and cut some fuel line?

PTP has a fuel pressure sensor adaptor they sell. it goes between the fuel supply line and the rail, direct snap-on fit. you might have to find some npt fittings to get your gauge's sensor to fit properly.

yup, that's the one

fuel under pressure + little hose clamps = less then ideal situation

BHR has this on their site: http://blackhaloracing.com/products-...line-adapter2/

i'm always surprised a little bit when I see a turbo car without a FP gauge. I know it's doesnt fall under the "required gauges" list.. but after seeing so many people have issues that cause them to spend hours chasing down the culprit, seems to me that a FP gauge is a cheap way to go for peace of mind.

Yeah I just purchased one and the Aeromotive fuel line adapter after reading and reading about horror stories and rotary specific issues related to fuel lines, adapters, etc. Luckily the smell of fuel usually makes a fuel leak obvious.

It's more required than an oil pressure gauge .....

Second... Especially because I will be using the stock fuel pump untill it craps out, that was my main reason for FP over coolant temp, oil temp or oil press. Besides from what I've been reading Oil temp is usually close to coolant temp and I have the AP to monitor coolant temps.

And thank you Ray for the great service I've been getting all summer from BHR!

really? i would think they'd be on par for the damage/headaches they can cause in a FI setup.

Can't take any credit for this. The credit goes to SCCA track racer & forum member "Ebb" in this thread:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/fuel-pressure-sensor-location-127893/

I can't recall ever hearing about a Renesis that died due to a failed oiling system, but maybe I missed it. At best they are very few and far between. The rotary oil system is about as simple and trouble free as it gets. The only exception might be the extreme build FI applications.

Noted...

and I didn't really mean untill it completely craps out but I'll be able to see when it is begining to fail and pressure begins to lower... Then It's BHR upgrade time.

Had better be the first time you see it drop below normal fuel pressure

This is what I was thinking yes... I believe 60psi ish is normal for the stock fuel pump. Now take in mind I'm an FI newb but what I was thinking was if the fuel pump begins to fail and pressure begins to reduce my AFR's should begin to lean out, which means time to replace fuel pump.

My car still has low km's and the fuel pump should still be strong (and I'm sure there are cases to contradict this) enough to keep up with the amount of fuel I will need for the stock GReddy kit. I know that if I plan to upgrade than it will be a different story, but for now I just can't afford to replace every single fix that has ever gone wrong with the Rx8.
