Finally happened - sliding console lid broke

I was cleaning the center console and i flipped it up to clean the sliding thing cuz it was all sticky and it was annoying to open and close, while i was wiping it with my cloth the little pastic thing snapped in half =(. it still opens and close but its weird, it slides to easily. i gotta get this fix =(

My plastic slider clip broke just like yours. The dealer replaced it for me and provided an extra one in case it happens again. It unsnaps quite easily and is replaced in a matter of seconds. Even if you need to buy one, it probably doesn't cost more than a couple bucks.

My car came with a spare in the ashtray.

It broke once and I fixed it.

It broke again and the dealer fixed it.

So that's what the odd bit of stray plastic was. Hope I kept it. I suppose you're talking about the little latch piece (about 2 cm long) near the front left edge of the sliding lid. Mine broke half-way, but still works.

Broke? Are we talking about that small black plastic clip that snaps onto the tab sticking out of the front-left side of the lid? It normally slides into the groove in the console...

Mine pops off every other time I open the lid. Takes 5 seconds to pop it back on, but it's a pain. I gotta remember to try superglue.

I'm told that my opening the lid without sliding it back weakened it, thus the problem. I'm sure I probably yanked it open once in the beginning before it was all the way back.

Seems to be a very common "problem."

Almost all of mine popped off after i had to force the thing to open upward while it was shut (because I got a can of redbull stuck in there). THey snap back in easily if you have them to snap back in.

I've had both the inner and outer lid replaced and finally the whole font inner comartment and lid(s). My console lid now stays back when slid open, even under moderate braking. NO more coffee spills.

So that's the piece I found in the back of the car. I saved it just in case I ever figured out where it came from.
