Different spark plugs?

I recently bought a used 2004 rx8 with 66k miles on the engine. Starting yesterday, the car would not start. It started slowly ever since we bought it, but now it won't start at all. It is flooded. There was gasoline coming out of the spark plug holes. We checked a lot of thing, but I noticed something weird about the spark plugs. First of all, it has two different kind of plugs in it. NGK RE7C L on bottom and NGK RE9B T on top. Second, the top spark plug hole looks different than the bottom, it looks more closed up. What could this be from?

Thanks.

Yes the rx8 uses 2 different plugs, 2 per rotor. A leading and trailing plug. Pictures would help so we know what you are talking about. But it is normal.

This is a picture of the spark plug holes. It's hard to see, but the top one is more closed up and has a small hole at the end. I don't know if thats normal

Totally normal ...you don't have a unique problem

Make sure you put the plugs back in the correct hole

Okay so that's not the problem. Why does it seem to flood so easily? I know you shouldn't turn the car off when it's cold, but it seems very very flooded.

The last time you drove the car before it was flooded. Did you turn the car off before the engine was warm?

Yes it was moved from the driveway to the garage. I tried the deflooding procedure where you hold the accelerator pedal to the floor and crank for 8 seconds, it didn't help at all.

Starting the car and moving it into the garage and then turning it off, thats when you car flooded. I would buy new spark plugs.

We went to advanced auto yesterday and new plugs are $20, plus to he safe we wanted to get new ignition coils and possibly a new battery. Is there a recommended CCA rating for an rx8 battery? The one in the car now is only 540.

Is that $20 a piece or $20 for all 4? Only use oem plugs You can get them from Mazmart for 72 dollars for all 4.

If you never want to worry about failing oem coils then go with Black Halo Racing.
BHR Ignition System | Black Halo Racing

If you like to replace your oem coils every 30k then go with oem.

You can get those plugs from any automotive store really. They are iridium, so they will be expensive. It might be smart to replace the whole ignition system (plugs, coil, and wires) if you do not know the last time any of it has been replaced. Like stated above, you can go with the BHR kit or just stick with OEM. You can also get the coils and wires from automotive stores. I just posted this in another thread, but I got all 4 plugs and coils from advance auto parts for like 160ish. That was using a coupon though, which can be found online. I had to find the wires online because no stores had them at the time. That was only like $20 though.
