A different approach to disabling TPMS?

I'm thinking of buying some wheels (SSR Comps) in the near future, and I don't want to put the pressure monitors on them. The sole reasoning being, why buy lightweight wheels and then add a pound and a half of weights to balance them out.

So I was reading the Disabling TPMS DIY thread. It seems I'd have to take down the dash to do the mod, and then it may not work. I noticed, however, on the wiring diagram, that the pressure monitors use a radio transmitter to get data to the control unit.

NOTE: The TPMS consists of wheel units that detect air pressure, temperature, and acceleration of each tire, and a TPMS control module that recieves data (RF signals).....

Being a fan of electronic gizmos, gadgets, and doo-dads, I thought maybe I could build a dummy transmitter(s) to fool the unit into thinking the monitors were still there. Only a couple problems, what's the frequencies and what type of signal do they send? Anyone have any idea? I searched but didn't come up with much, sorry if it's a repost (but if it is, please direct me to the applicable post )

So.....a pound and a half.

How much degradation of performance does this pound and a half cause?

No idea, not much i'm sure, but why spend $1500+ on lightweight wheels only to add weight back? I can live without TPMS, I've done so for the last 15 years. Just have to check my tires when I check my oil, no big deal. I just don't want to have to take the dash apart on a mod that may or may not work.

I've wondered if you were to put the montors in a box and pressureize the box would it fool the sensors. Would they read psi and send the right signal.
