COMPLETE loss of power, I really need help!

Alright, Ive searched and searched but didnt find what I needed!

After my car warms up I feel a stight change in how much power my car has.
BUT, it rained a couple days ago so me and my brother (owns a 240) went out to an abanded parking lot and just had sum drift/donut fun. After a couple minutes of higher reving my car lost so much power that it would barely spin the tires ON WET BLACK TOP!!!!! then it died!

Now ive heard the 3 inch part of the cat breaks down and clogs the 7 inch portion! could this be the reason? and if so would buying a new one be better than taking out the 7 inch section???

Also, Ive heard that the K&N typhoon intake is bad for the 8's, should I buy a new and smaller filter or a new all together?

I appreciate any help I can get!

Hard to say ... I Kept my car @ 8.5~9K rpm for 20 mins on Garden State Parkway last week, my engine alive, no problem, actually it feels stronger now. So We need more details from you.

If you have warranty, go check it at dealership. if not, take ur cat down and look inside.

Where you *heard* this from ? Version 1 or Version 2.
Version 1 suck dick, I had it and it suck so bad.
Version 2 should be the *actual* product. Working nicely, higher upper RPM power .

I appreciate any help I can get!
You're welcome.

awesome another crappy answer.

Obviously you dont know the answer im looking for...Of coarse I could just drop the cat and look inside, duh, but im at work most of my life with little spare time so I figured asking a question in the "tech" part of this forum I could get a answer. thought wrong!

and yes I have the actual "K&N" "TYPHOON" intake, Ive READ (sorry I used HEARD) on a couple threads that the k&n is a worse intake than stock! and is this true with proof?

So new cat, or punch out big section of original cat?

and yes its out of warranty

^^ Don't know what you expect us to tell you. There is about a hundred things it could be.

Reset the ECU ( search) and see if that helps. After that it could be fuel system, ignition...coils go bad a lot, Intake or exaust restriction, engine breakdown...hell the list is a mile long

Did it throw a check engine lite..any codes or pending codes. If so what are they

Come back with some better data...and you will get a better answer...

The car runs fine, I know its not ignition, the car starts fine, idles perfect, never floods, the car is full of power unless ive been gettin on it for ahwile. It doesnt ever feel that its misfiring. Ive done the reset using the odo, i cant get the brake pedal one to work.

It feels like the car just cant breath, the filter is perfectly clean (K&N) so im sure its not an intake issue. the exhaust sounds fine, untill it starts the power loss thing!

Also it feels like it only does it with other people in the car, I just drove it and it did fine but I only really got on it gettin on the freeway even then it felt powerfull, its extremely odd, it only does it if iv been pushing the car.

situation: car starts (perfectly) car idles (just fine), warms up after driving a few minutes, then if I get on it a few time it starts to bog down and loose power at 5k+.
But if I drive perfectly and granny the car it takes a lot longer for it to start happening.
I know these rotaries can take a good beating (its almost good for them)!

I stood at the dealer for like 45 minutes and we couldnt figure it out! I know theres guys on here that know more than he does so I need some expertese!

a. the car doesnt run fine
b. starting fine has nothing to do with your coils being fried
c most people with fried coils have no symptoms other than a loss of power over 5 or 6k after the car is warmed up. literally no acceleration when they step on the pedal.

your coils should be checked

That means you did NOT study well enough.

Version 1 of Typhoon is ****
Version 2 is Fine, especially top end power.

Like zoom44 said, check the coils, it could be bad EVEN if its within the spec. so ...

Thats pretty uncalled for especially since you are the one asking for help.

Nevertheless, did any lights come on?

I experienced a simillar loss of power after a day at the track. Engine would not rev past 4k rpms and the car could barely go past 20km/h.

Turns out the car was in a 'limp home' state as I had fried the DSC and ABS. This was fixed when we manually disabled the DSC/ABS by removing the circuit breaker. The CEL came on as did the DSC and ABS lights, but I was able to drive it back normally albeit without the aid of the electronic nannies.

Thankfully my car was still under warranty and is now back on the road. Good luck with yours too.
