insulating the AC lines, and flushing the hoses too. They do get clogged.

Another option is to use a heat-blocking window film. Heat that doesn't enter the cabin, doesn't have to be removed by the AC.

Insulation on the floor / transmission tube can also reduce heat-load in the cabin.
I tried to reprogram mine last summer and I don't know if it worked or not. I'm going to attempt that again for this season. I also agree with proper insulation, and it's true that most of the heat dissipates from the transmission; you will notice it when the weather's hot and your AC is on full blast.
