A/C blows HOT after recall
Hey guys.. i've searched around a bit for info about this I'm sure there is info about it but I couldn't find it.. It's probably deep in that 45 page recall thread so I'm going to post MY findings.. sorry if it's a repost
well I got my recall letter a few days ago.. and I wasn't having any problems at all so I decided I'd take it in just in case.. took about 2 hours and everything was fine... on my way home I noticed that my car was letting some warm air out of the vents when it was switched to off and the temp was on the coldest setting.. it always did this except when i had the **** to cold it would be cool air..
Now when i try to turn the AC on all I get is HOT air.. I can kinda trick it to being cold by turning the temp to hottest and waiting 5 secs and then turning it all the way to coldest.. then it will blow cold air.. but if i move it one click warmer it goes surface of the sun hot again. I know this is because of the recall because it worked great untill the drive home from the recall..
I'm taking it back in but I just had to rant a little bit and hope that you guys could give me a quick fix so I wouldn't have to waste another hour or 2 of my life...

chances are you'll need this:
http://www.finishlineperformance.com.../pdf/03-28.pdf
here's the list of all of them for the future too:

same thing happened to me (and others i remember giving them this same link), its just random that it happened when you went in for the recall work, no worries.

Following the recall yesterday, today I noticed that I have the same problem (i.e. A/C blows warm air after recall).
Will test it a bit more but chances are I have to take it back to fix it, because something was fubared.
The irony is that I got to go back for the same dial assembly like in that TSB anyway, because mine needs to be replaced due to a cracked defrost button. I thought that it's interesting that someone else has the same A/C issue right after the recall...

Its not really about the recall. Your A.C controls are going bad.
I've been living with this *sometimes heat comes out* problem for the whole summer, I just got it replaced by the dealer last week.
Just tell your dealer *A/C blows hot air when the **** is on the cold side, and cold air when the **** is on the hot side* , they will replace the whole thing for you.

It just seems too odd that the **** got "broken" while it was in getting the recall done.. because it was fine on the drive there and not fine on the drive home...
I'm taking it back in tomorrow and ask that they reflash it or check that a conneciton somewhere came loose or something.. i don't know but something got boogered up.
Tamas had the same thing happen to him.. Do you have any updates Tamas?

Reading the other comments, it seems like this is probably not the case, particularly since you said you did get it to blow cold once. Last summer I had a shop do some work on my truck, and afterwards I noticed that my A/C wasn't working. They simply forgot to reconnect the power cables to the A/C compressor when they were finished with my truck. Have you peeked under your hood and had a look at them?

Temp solution would be, if you want icy cold air, turn the **** to the cold side, hold the lower left edge of the **** down HARD for a while. and DONT move it EVER. It should stay cold.
You still gotta get the dealer to replace the whole thing tho. not just the ****, the WHOLE thing.
At first I thought Im just one of the unlucky one .... but I guess sooner or later there will be a new tsb for this.

nycgps is right, the dealer will replace the whole unit. the reason its set on either always cold or always hot is the **** doesn't register anymore (or only registers sometimes.) if you look under the dash from the driver's side and move the temp **** you can view the plastic arm that turns from hot to cold, and yours is stuck. This happened to me, stuck on cold, in the winter in NJ. Just remember the dealer might not have the part in stock, it took a week to get my new unit in, head to the dealer, sooner the better.

Have other people been having **** breakage too? My temperature **** broke recently. Is that TSB saying that I should get my **** replaced for free? I called my dealership about it and they were going to charge me $58 for a new ****!!!!

Broken AC Temp Control ****
I just replaced a broken Temp Control **** in my wife's RX-8. I thought maybe it broke at a carwash, but now I'm thinking it might have been broken by the dealer during the recall.
Does the recall require removal of the HVAC or control *****?
Also, considering the **** design has changed, with a beefed up attachment ring (see pictures), should Mazda pay for the replacement ****? You can see where the old **** broke (right picture).
Finally Bay Area Mazda Owners: I got the **** from Fremont Mazda for $30.31. This is after they quoted me $44. I showed them what Trussville sells them for ($30.31) and they matched the price.

you might already pass that but ..... if you're still within the warranty period. you might want to ask your dealer to replace the whole thing. It just gonna take them less than 30 mins. but remember most people does not have this part in stock, so they gotta order them, usually take about a week or 2.

AC Blows Cold while driving, Hot air at idle
The Mazda dealership can't find anything wrong with my 2005. It blows out cold air fine while the car is moving but when it comes to a stop or idle, it blows hot air. They say this is normal. I don't think so. I had my engine replaced at 3,000 miles and it did fine prior to this. What could they have screwed up during the engine replacement?

AC problems
The AC is ON and it blows cold while driving. When I am stopped at a red light for a minute or two or stuck in traffic, it blows hot air. Not just a less colder air, but HOT air like the unit has totally shut off.
