Anyone know why this is happening?

Ok so Ive got an 06 RX 8. A few weeks ago the car all of a sudden wouldn't start and I had it towed to mazda they "fixed it" saying it was a fuel and oil leak into the engine cuz i tried starting it and never actually told me the underlying problem now I parked outside today (-11 Celsius) for a few hours when i get back i start to drive and the engine light is blinking and the car can barely make it over 2000 rpm. everytime i shift into a new gear and also including first gear. The entire car shakes as if I am going to stall when I'm far from it. I leave it in the garage for a few hours and start again. Problem is still there and when i leave the car the whole garage stinks of gas.

I have a mazdaspeed cold air intake as well i dunno if it has something to do with it.

Anyone ever have this problem or know what is going on?

I appreciate the answers.

Thanks.

it sounds like your car is in limp mode. Any number of things (typically serious) will cause the ECU to go into this mode.

On the other hand your coils and/or plugs may have gone bad. Coils are known to fail, and plugs can easily fowl after a good flooding, which sounds like your initial problem.

Hope this helps -- take it back to the stealership.

sounds like your CAT is dead/clogged... also make sure your ignition is up to snuff... coils, plugs, and wires.

it sounds like you flooded the car originally (towed to the dealer) so all that excess fuel may have been pushed into your cat and roasted it!

Get it towed in..I assume it's still under warranty

Sounds like it's in limp mode...could be all kinds of things...from sensors to the MOP

did this action start the same day or the next drive after the install of the mazdaspeed intake? if not then its probably not the intake problem. flooding killed cat is most likely the issue. but you need to get it diagnosed.

Hey guys so it took almost a week at the stealership but the problem was fixed. According to them. Due to the rotary's sensitivity I might have not let the car cool down enough idling or let it warm up enough before driving. They replaced some **** on warranty after a large fight with them lol. So my 8 is back and better then ever. Can you believe the manager said RX8's are too much trouble sell it and get something else? I'm like dude the 8 stays with me.
