My roomate has a 2005 rx8 he bought recently. He let a co-worker take it to get it washed and were not sure but we think he may have power washed the engine, but anyways, ever since he got the car back, it would bog down at 6,000 and then get back on track at 6,500 rpm's. The check engine light is also on, but that has been on for a little bit now. The 8 is a 6 speed car also(not sure if that matters or not). Anyone have any ideas on what it might be?

 

High-RPM bog-down is typical of a bad cat or bad plugs. Go to a dealer or Autozone and have them pull the CEL code. If it says bad cat, get it replaced under warranty by a dealer. If it says one rotor is misfiring, new plugs.

 

his mil came on when he got the car a couple weeks ago also and the dealer said it was a coolant temp sensor.
