BC 2004 Rx8 staring problem =[

My 8 has 42k on it and its 2004
i bought it year ago second hand dealer(non-mazda)
When i start up my car today....it took so long to start up my engine!!!!
just like the Thread: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/does-your-rx8-make-sound-when-starting-212836/

Also, when i stop at red light...the car start shakng like crazy!!!

Since my car is second hand...do i still hv a chance to go to Mazda and ask for a check or even a new engine?

Im so depress right now cant even sleep...i love my 8 so much

I bought my car 2nd hand as well back in 07 and its a 2004 while I was stationed in Maryland. When I moved back home to Arkansas in 09 car started having same problems starting up like yorus. I replaced my coils and would fire up right away. Also I took car in for a checkup and turned out had no compression and they replaced motor core for free due to extended factory warranty.

What he said! Do the coils wires and plugs on your own. Not a hard job and will save you a ton of money over the dealer cost. It really should be the first thing you try. There is currently a company in the vendor forum selling those parts at a great price.

you need 4 of these: http://onlinemazdaparts.com/partloca...layCatalogid=0

one of these: http://onlinemazdaparts.com/partloca...layCatalogid=0

and a full set of spark plugs which for some reason isn't working all that well on their website now but send them an email and they'll take care of it.

Given the age, I would look at the stuff in the First $100 thread below as well. Lots of little stuff can add up. You are very likely to need the plugs and coils though soon.

Welcome.

im havng the same problem, but i replaced my park plugs and wires last summer and i just checked them out today and they look shot. it looks like i have alot of carbon buildup witch i think means loss of compression. what did mazda say to you about the warrintie cause i have the extended one also but they want proff of every oil change?? im second owner and i dont have recipets

My slow start problem seems to go away becoz i drive my 8 more offen these days!!! but the shaking problem is still there =[

hmm.....for the proof of oil change i do hv the them after i purchase the car.
but before purchase i dont. I do have the Report of the car about the condition and it says good on the report... maybe it helps? or Mazda need the full proof of oil change since the car was born? thats not possible =[

Sorry i cant help much

Your car is a 2004 with over 40k it more then likely needs new motor mounts. It is a common problem with 2004-2005 cars. I would not focus on getting a new engine. At this moment I would focus on your motor mounts, coil packs, spark plugs and spark plug wires.

That being said Check with any Mazda dealer/service center and they can pull any service records they have for your VIN. You never know maybe the last owner got all the oil changes and services done at Mazda. Someone had mentioned mazmart I would check with those guys.

I was lucky enough to have my oil change receipts. I had to call every place in Maryland I got an oil change at and have them fax me copies though lol. I guess the only thing you might be able to do is just wait a few months and build up a few oil changes I know they required 10 from me dunno if thats the same everywhere but then go back with the paper work and hopefully it will work.

Yep! Dont focus on the engine replacement for now. Your engine could be just fine.
