No power yet battery good

Went out to start my RX-8 this morning but found the car to be dead. No power as in no electricity. Figured my kids left a light on so went to hook a charger up but found the battery to be fully charged. Checked the fuses good or at least the fuses that looked like they would matter for this type of problem. The car drove fine when it was parked last.

Anyone have any idea's what I could check or point me to some other threads with a similar issue. I did several search's but could find anything. I'm sure there are but still working on my searching abilities.

Check the connection for the main 120 amp fuse as well...do the lights come on when you open the door?

Thanks much, that was it, the 120A fuse. How in the heck could that fuse blow after just parking it... Didn't see that one as it's a bit hidden on the side of the fuse box. Should have seen it though from the diagram on the fuse box cover (must be blind). Your comment forced me to do some more searching so thanks.

Because when you shut off any kind of motor, or for that matter turn on, you get a power spike. That includes window motors, AC motors, Blowers, Heater system, and the alternator.

^ That's why he keeps a bag on his head.

So bad luck can't find him, like lightning.

Abso "freaking" lutely
As an ex dummy mechanic I've seen this several times. People pull in the driveway headlights on, AC on max, stereo rocking and lord knows what else.
The alternator putting out max amps and then the key gets turned off.

The result is blown fuses, alternators, ECU and other onboard computers, even batteries get wasted. Not pointing any fingers, just a word to the wise.

fuses are wonderful but once the device is shut off and the diode is no longer needed to draw power and force it one way, sometimes you get lovely power spikes back through the grounding wire. I had it take out the coil on my 1958 once. Look like lightning struck it.
