^^^ Takes awhile normally I got a buddy in Oklahoma (RenesisJim) and its taken him a couple of months to get his tune, if not more... To quote RenesisJim "Id be suprised if I get more than 2 tunes out of his 6 month time period"

i think the pulleys make a significant difference if they are underdriven. slightly better throttle response and rev quicker. so combined with AP it great mod.

I want to get off of my other mods done before accessport though so it doesnt have to be re-tuned after every other thing i do

id also really like to know how much the cobb tune would help an 04 auto. so far i have aem intake and borla catback..would the cobb help my 8 out alot?

would i notice it being faster? horsepower?

from my understanding yes. as well as longevity/responsiveness etc.

I'm getting the borla catback in about a month. i've seen youtube videos and i like it the most out of all the exhausts for the 8. is it alot louder? im expecting it to be but i dont wanna wake the neighbors

Some people have more sensitive butt dynos than others, so it's difficult to say if you will feel the difference. There definitely will be a power/speed difference though. Honestly, I bought it for other reasons, like increased oil injection, lowered fan temps, no CELs, increased responsiveness, and being able to monitor all the engine data like oil/water temps. It is a great reliability mod when combined with the MM tuning. The power increase is just an awesome add-on in my opinion. I even get better MPG now (approximately 1mpg in mixed driving from 17-18.5ish). It doesn't hurt that you can sell it for most of what you buy it for either. It's a great investment.

The springs will run you around 200-350 depending on what springs you buy... as far as doing it yourself--don't hahaha. Its not fun. Cost to have someone else do it will run you anywhere from 400-600 bucks so you're looking just shy of a grand.

im doing catback first, then shock+springs, then sways+endlinks
ive done my homework and found the cheapest prices (pretty sure)

RR-borla catback-800
Work Concepts- tokico shocks-550 tein s techs- 170!!
BHR- progress sway bar set- 300 (getting evo R endlinks from RR)

any money left over... should probably save for feeding myself haha

as for install. hopefully I can probably find some people in dfw to help me out. im cheap, if i can DIY on anything i will.

The exhaust is a good piece--Helps to get rid of that weed-whacker sound when you get above 4k on RPMs... as for the sways, I put in sways my 8 and unless you are really really pushing it hard you won't notice much difference at all as your car already has OEM front and rear sway bars installed (and they are not much different than aftermarket ones, except they're black).

With the springs you'll definitely feel a ride difference, and you might even get a slight increase in your fuel economy due to less drag. I'd drop the sway bars and pursue an Air Intake with the exhaust/lowering... prolly the most noticeable changes and the overall best bang for your buck.

I always go with appearance after I get what I want done out of the performance... that's just me though. Good luck on your mods buddy! If you want any help with the how-to's on the install just hit me up--I personally would not tackle the springs myself though, I paid to have mine done after I saw how 'unfun' the front springs would be to install (not to mention you need the clamps to keep the springs compressed).

Spring installs are not hard. It can look like a daunting taks, but it really isn't bad. The spring compressor you need isavailable at autozone for a $50 deposit. Someone around DFW will help you with the install anyways. PS: don't keep the spring compressors more than 3 months because then you just lost your deposit. I was never told that, but I learned it the hard way.

Thanks Hokie, ill take that into acount. I just figured it might be a good mod since im doing alot of suspension stuff. I have the base model, which means no yellow dot sways. But not buying those will save me close to 500. which will leave room for either an intake or AP or something.

as for springs/shocks. I'm still doing the install myself with some help. I know for a fact that they have done many installs so i think we'll be good

OOOookay. so i just got a $25 dollar gift card to amazon and they have the takeda intake on sale for $200 right now. I saw the dyno for those on AT's on work concepts vendor page and it looked pretty good. any thoughts on this??

I'd check out the HKS Racing Suction kit--pricey but extremely effective at lowering fuel economy and giving your engine the aspirated feel you're looking for. Close second and far more economical--not to mention extremely easy to install--would be the K&N Typhoon Air intake. The Takeda isnt a bad intake either, very similar to the K&N intake. Don't know much about install, but it is designed to be re-used very much like the prior intakes.

Whichever pursued it'd be a better choice than going with sways especially if you aren't racing. My fuel economy went from around 18mpg to around 20mpg. Just something to consider.

Both the Takeda and the K&N Typhoon intake suck in hot air, look at the way they are designed. Dont always look at a "Dyno" and believe it to be true, because if that was true all RX8's would be putting down 220hp at the wheels with all the mods.

Another way to think about this Takeda Intake is... How many people have it? is it popular? what do all the main RX8 guys use for an intake?

Anwser those questions and you will see why RX8club members stick with AEM/MS CAI and RB Revi intakes w/ ram air duct... its because those are the best and dont suck up hot air... goodluck man

I agree with you completely. but i was looking at the other posts about them and the dyno was tested on the AT. most guys on the club have MT's. that was the thing that caught my eye, that maybe it got those numbers cause AT's responded better to them. I'm gonna hold off and if i ever get an intake im going w/ a blue aem.

i have the borla cat back i bought from raceroots and installed myself with my dad there is a good difference but its not too many decibals higher. and along with your mods a midpipe is another really great mod for a louder sound and more hp.

and AEM cold air intake as far as ive read is really great too ( and looks good haha )

i cant wait to get paid and start on my next mod
