Super Low & Super Slow

This may just be my opinion, but wouldn't it be easier/better to have the filter sit in the opening where the stock VFAD tube sat? The run a 350z style intake and have cool air all the time for your filter, rather than having it way down low? I know we live in Arizona, but that filter wouldn't last a 3 hour drive on my car.

The Filter used will not fit in the stock VFAD location behind the bumper. I think the diameter is 5". The pic makes it look lower than it really is. It's above the top of the undertray.
O BTW no 350Z style stuff on meh kar!

Why not? Its an unmodified K&N piece I believe. I guess Dave will have to chime in with it is. Its at least has 4" of straight before and after the MAF.
Does it need to be straighter for longer than that? I guess I could put the filter directly on it, don't really want to run an hot air intake though
BTW I am going to add an o2 bung pre-turbo like you mentioned...

maybe Jeef is thinking the before and after is less than what is really there. For certain the Al displayed fore and aft of the MAf in the pic does not equal 4". Alot of the Aluminum is covered up by the couplers in the pic then.
. Would this configuration still provide the proper requirements needed by the annular air flow of the MAF?
Please provide your esteemed technical wisdom Jeff.
Thanks

Problem really lies in the orientation of the turbo. I guess we can stick the filter directly on the maf then. As long as Davey springs for a good w/a system down the line it will probably be fine...
I see 8 C intake temps @ 16psi on the shop car with a hot air intake...

Just put the MAF in the tube down there.
Just make sure the diameter is 3.375".

The Omp in it's new home. Snugly behind the glove-box.
Why here you may ask. Well i didn't have any space in the engine bay to hide it. I can't get rid of it, or the onset of limp mode happens.
Oh and BTW, Happy B-day to the build! Now lets get the damn thing done.
