Cobb AP for the A/T
hmm sounds good, do you have to get it from mazda maniac or can you get it from cobb directly? Or is mazda maniac just the only one who knows how to tune it correctly for our cars?

Question about supercharger
This is not a break in the thread just a question for you Phil. Were you just a test subject for the petit supercharger? Because i went to petit's site and they only offer it for the manual tranny models ONLY

Yes and no - I was the first a/t but it's a perfect fit. Pettit does not have a working flash yet for the AT, but Jeff does for an Cobb AP. I love it and would recommend it. I did not catch your location but I'm in Cali this weekend for the dyno meet. If your close by, come and see it. Yes the stock tranny will work very well with the Pettit s/c.

Interesting product line my friend sounds good. you know iv'e been hearing a lot of good things about this cobb ap, alot better than the int x. Im a little weary about F/I I blew a cavalier sky high (too much boost not enough fuel) I know its all in how you tune it but i want to wait a bit before i go the forced induction route seeing as i stopped street racing 3 years ago.
If you're looking into the Pettit S/C, regardless of EMS, and would like to track the car I would direct you to Juan(marsredr100), Denny(Olddragger), Roland(Munche), and Gleyner(Bastage). Even though they are MTs they can still give you some insight. If you're simply streeting the car, Phil(Phil's 8) and Jesse(Joff).
The only 4 port I know of is mine and 09Factors. 09Factors is turbo-ed though. Mine is NA. So far what little dyno time that has been done has mostly been on the Turbo model. I hope to have it up and installed (AP) on my car in a few weeks and have some tuning done to it for a you guy's.
I have driven with it on the car with some tuning done for the street. The car sounds and feels so much smoother and quieter. Just feels more efficient. We raised the red line to 8000 and she pulled to it no problem. Felt good. Want to try 8500 next. Right now I have a race mid pipe and want to further see what we can do since that install.
As I have said before, what I see this unit is capable of doing has me sold. Period.

Only way to increase the 0-60 times are lower rear end gears and an FI system of some type.
Your not going to get Super Performance gains from the AP. It's not like bolting on a turbo or supercharger. What you will get is a better running car. Better oiling from the OMP. Better fuel economy at cruise speeds. Increased RPM range.
Like I said I have no tangible numbers yet as to the performance increases on the 4 port AT. 10 to 20 HP would be reasonable to estimate as to the gains.
As we have seen the numbers vary from car to car. Be patient and I will work on getting it on my car a soon as possible.

When you plug it in and flash the system. And then start the car and drive it. You'll go WTF? This is awesome. Right off the bat you'll hear the difference, then feal it.
This is the best thing for the RX-8 since FI. Without a doubt.

^^^ Quick ?...You say when you drive and plug...i mean i dont mean 2 sound like 2 much of a noob..but is it really that simple??..i mean i live a little too far away from some good tuners that can probably work on it.
Sounds good man thanks for your info. I do belive im sold now just gotta work a bit more overtime lol
You would have to get a map from Mazdamaniac.
All you have to do is down load it into the AP and then plug it in and flash the ECU. Easy as pie. I know you like pie.
So far I have been the only NA 4 PORT AT guinea pig for this. I know he has been busy with the FI and 6 port people.
I hope to get the AP in the near future and press him for some more tuning time. It helps when he lives 20 minutes down the freeway from me.
All I can say is be patient, It took 4 years to get this far. Whats a few more weeks.

I mean re flash the ECU. That's the beauty of this system, no tuner needed. Pre tuned maps are coming. Might be a small fee in the near future for the maps.

Problem is the dyno read really low, so no one wants to post the plots (and I can't blame them).
However, we had cars that rolled on with 120 and rolled off with 140. That's a 20 HP increase.
Now multiply that by ~1.5 (the average difference between the numbers read that day and typical ~180 HP numbers on a normal dyno) and that is a ~30 HP increase.
I'm not saying that is typical, but you get the idea.
When my 8 was on the dyno 4/21, for every pound of psi added it made right around 10 additional hp, Consistantly!.
I can't claim that with the EMU...
Jeff,
Is there anything that the AP can do about the TCM?
