Cobb AP for the A/T
Help I can't connect my AP anymore
So here is the whole story. I purchased the AP from MM a couple weeks ago and just got it in the mail last Thursday. But in my over-excitement I must have chose the wrong version cause I got the maps for an 04 MT. Now while I was waiting for MM to email me the new maps I was able to connect to my car and view my CEL from not having a cat. It said to run reset ECU to clear the code, I did, it completed fine. It said to turn off the car for 10 seconds, I did and still fine. Turned the car back on and the CEL was still on but I wasn't too concerned at that point. Flash forward to this Monday and I get the new maps SWEET! Took the MT maps off the AP, stored them on the laptop, and then uploaded the new maps. I ran out to the car turned the key to on, plugged in the dongle, connected the AP, install map and damn unable to connect or mis-configured. I tried the jam and wiggle, wiggle and hold, waiting for the car to cool down, and I even tried loading the MT maps back on with no luck. Sometimes it would sit at the connecting screen for 10 to 20 seconds and other times it was instant failure. Oh one other thing I forgot... the first time I did connect I went to the install screen and it did recognize my car and list all the MT maps but I canceled from there. Anybody have any ideas? I'm starting to get antsy as this is my first set of upgrades for my car and would love to see everything come together.
Thanks
Thanks
The USB cable in the kit isn't very "sound" I had a diffrent one with the same ends and it has worked everytime.
I was having the same connection issues like you have now. The new cable fixed that.

No luck for me, tried a new cable with the same results. If I bought this from MM does he warranty them or do I have to go back to Cobb?
Have you run the latest firmware update on the AP/dongle?
There was a batch of AP's that had an incorrect flash on the dongle that the AP wouldn't talk to...
Witch firmware version are you running now?

That is the second dongle that has gone bad from that order.
I've got one here that worked fine twice and then died.
Call Cobb. They will replace it for you.
If you have any problems with them, let me know.

Yeah Cobb confirmed the faulty dongle. They said since it showed as not connected in the about screen when hooked up to the car it was either a faulty cable or dongle. I already tried a new cable so that only left the dongle.
So far I haven't had a chance to do any dyno time. But most of the MT guys are getting around 10 to 15+ HP gains. I hope to get some dyno time soon. Just having a lot of other things going on right now.
I'd like to do the same thing. and get her dyno'd before and after the flash. I just need to put new plugs in and wires cuz im at 34k atm with the original set I believe.
I'm really curious, cuz this cars performance seems to vary like mad. I live in colorado springs, and mine seriously has a really good amount of low end torque. I'll post a video soon, but ya Im not getting any of this 11.8 second 0-60 time. **** that!
I raced a 2006 WRX 5 speed like yesterday (to semi-legal speeds, nothing stupid). Off the line if I just barely went into the accelerater I would slip past him, hear his turbo hit at 2200 or so, pull past me until I got to about 6500 rpm and then he remained maybe 1/2 to full car distance ahead. We kept doing roll starts to from like 25-30, and my car really did pull with his nicely, especially from 30 mph in 1st gear up.
