Zoom Zoom Boom

lost compression on rotor #2.

here's the story:

Friday afternoon i was driving on the Dragon US-129. pulled off to let a motorcycle by me because my car was starting to get hot. found a pull off spot up the road a little more. as soon as i stopped my car stalled out. took about 1.5 hours to get it started again after we let it cool. took a look under my car at the boost line going to the wastegate actuator and found it loose.

about the car:

installed the turbo and got it tuned back in February. since i'm in the navy and have to go out to sea a lot i haven't had too much of a chance to drive the car and work out the bugs. i drove it to and from work a few times, from Portsmouth, VA to Myrtle Beach, SC and back, and to the dragon where this all happened. i'm not quite sure when the WG line came undone, so i don't know if i might have tuned without it or not. regardless i need some new vacuum lines. the ones i got with my BOV are complete garbage.

so for now:

had the car towed to someone's house that actually has time to tear it down. looking to do a rebuild possibly with some Esmeril Racing apex seals, pineapple racing HD water seals, and whatever else needs replaced possibly some powdercoating too.

i'd like to give a big thanks to Patrick(g3tr3ddy2gr3ddy) for helping me out with it, Kevin Landers(Rotary Resurrection) for towing my car, and the couple that helped us out on the side of the dragon. without you guys i'd probably still be stuck on the dragon. everyone wish me luck.

maybe. it was running really strong into boost. i haven't even done WOT with it yet but even feathering the throttle it felt great.

never go the chance to install mine. thats the major reason i wouldn't go WOT. at least if i ease into boost i could just let off if i felt any surge.

it was approaching 200F water temp. later on my oil temp gauge started going crazy. i didn't realize until we put the key in after we hauled it that the needle just sweeps all over the place.

That wastegate line makes me paranoid. Between Jeff and now you, I am glad I have real nice lines and I check them often.

Sucks to hear about this dude!!!!! Things were just getting fun.

Def get a boost gauge in that monster. .partial throttle and boost dont mix well..you can see some serious pressures especially if that wastegate was loose..good luck on the build and glad to see ur bouncing back

he just have oil pressure, water and oil temp. he doesn't have any gauges for turbo application, ex: AFR or boost gauge.

nuke, sorry to hear, but i hope for the next engine you will have something to monitor it and stronger engine...

at least, you won in the first place..LOL..
