My three head competitors are the 8 of course, S2000 and the 350z.
My personal reflection is that the 8 is the coolest one by far, and I also think that it has the best track chassi and also the best potential, altough so far the 350z has alot more tuning options, the downside is that the rear of the 350 looks like a audi tt and that is about the ugliest car you can put your eyes on.
And overall Nissan spits out cars, it doesnt have the looks of the rx8 not the luxury feeling and so on.

Altough the s2000 can look really sharp, can be tuned nicely BUT its a real old model now.

These are some of the things that I am currently taking in to consideration, also I am considering buying a tuned perhaps even styled car and just do the final touches.
Since I put down approx 34.000$ give or take a few regarding currency on my Nissan 200sx, I feel that I'm not really in the mood to do it again And that is only the cost for parts, most stuff has been done by myself and through contacts.
I guess that somewhere somehow I have already decided to go with the 8, its just that I will have to wait for the tuning companies to get together a nice little package that works

What are your responses to this?
I had the exact dilemma when buying my car - I had about $35,000

Initially, I had a huge hard-on for the S2000 with the InlinePRO turbo kit (we're talking 420 rwhp here . . . . ), but my dreams were shattered when, bidding on a bright yellow S2000 with Volks, my friend's computer froze cuz it was overloaded with **** and spyware. Picking myself out of that disappointment, I went and looked around at the Z, S2K, and RX-8, as well as a few other cars (the DOHC, high revving Mustang Cobra without the supercharger - wanted to cam it and do all the bolt ons, or building a 450 awhp 3000GT VR-4 for about $25,000). Anyways, when I finally sat down and thought about it - the Z is more athletic because it has stiffer spring rates, but the ride on that car SUCKS and the engine, while powerful, didn't do it for me - the fun stopped around 4000 rpm. The S2000 was really nice but the chassis just wasn't up to the task for me - it lost traction pretty easily . . . but lets be honest - all 3 cars perform almost identically and are extremely competent.

It came down to styling - yeah, the S2K is a convertible, and if I had any money, I'd buy that or the MR-2 Spyder as my next car (you should check out the MR-2 - its very "point and shoot" as far as the driving experience goes, and there's plenty of options for boost or motor swaps). The Zs interior was just blah. Its black and boring. There are a few cool features like an adjustable shift light, but the RX-8 has that nice "WAAAAAAAAH" at 9000 rpm too - what won it out for me was the uniqueness of the 8 - those suicide doors, that navigation system popping up from the center console, the ever-so-sexy red on black leather seats that make the ladies melt.

I had been driving around an RX-7 forever, and I was done with loud, stinky, harsh riding cars - I wanted something with a great sound system and comfort that could also double as a sporty driving experience, and the RX-8 delivered it all. Yes, I plan on buying a roadster (Miata/S2K/MR2/Convertible FC3S RX-7) in the future, but for now the RX-8 is perfect.

I got mine fully loaded with nav, bose, leather, every option other than the body kit, even came with 18" chrome wheels, for $24,000 OTD at a DEALERSHIP (I went in the middle of a snowstorm, so I had a strong negotiating stance). It was under warranty, and I had a face to go to when **** broke. Now I've voided my warranty with my turbo and all the other bits, but who cares - the car is so much fun now!

My advice if you get one is not to screw around with bolt ons - yes your HP will go up, and you MIGHT even make near what a turbo can put out in horsepower, but your torque will NEVER touch that of a turbo car. My torque curve is absolutely flat and jumped up about 40 ft-lbs from the turbo alone (no exhaust or any other mods) - horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.

well I have never even thoughted about bolt ons! I want pure power like a turbo!
And since this car is going to take over from my Nissan it has quite some demands
I have been looking all over german aftermarket since I live in Sweden with all the shitty laws and high prices I have to buy my car from some other EU country in order to get it legal in Sweden.
The RX-7 is also very nice altough its a must with the headlight conversion flipping lights just kills any potential you car has. Doesn't matter if you have 900whp or if it says ferrari on the hood with those light you are lost!
But back to the tuning
Yeah I have seen the MR2 but it just doesnt do it for me!

the renesis is gonna be easy to tune for idle...
-5 on the timing and about 14:1-14.2:1 afr's should do it...we got the bridgeport to idle silky-smooth with the o2 sensor disconnected.

yeah If I could get my hands on one of their cars, it would be sweet
And I do like their kit except for the wing, I still think my APR GT-1 looks better.
But as far as everything else goes looks real nice

oh yea cretin.... compound fuel pressure.

i first thought about this to eliminate the fuel pressure drop when the secondary injectors com online (more for the rx7 guys with the 1600cc injectors).

anyhoo, run one fuel pump for each fuel rail with seperate pressure regulators. i use the stock one for the secondaries (why not?), and an aftermarket for the primaries. this can allow you to run your primary injectors with lower fuel pressure, without reducing the volume ability of the secondaries.

think back to the lower fuel pressure smoothing out the idle...

if you have any kind of tire grip you'll need a stronger transmission for sure
