Thank you all for the congratulations! Even though this thread is finished I'm sure you all know the car is not; it will never be. When I get home I will be picking up a full MS kit, and will be redoing the audio and the battery relocation (think false floor in the trunk over the dip.) The audio is being extensively redone with two 4080 and top of the line JL stuff. Also in the near future is a new set of rims and sticky tires as I don't think the stockers are going to cut it anymore and the Yokohama S Drives are garbage. I haven’t decided on a rim but have been thinking about Enkei PF01, RP03 and maybe WedsSports SA-67R. The tire of choice is going to be Star Specs. Thanks again for all of your support!

That is awesome! I'm in Germany right now and should be home the night of the 21st maybe. Getting out of Afghan-o-land was a pain in the *** but I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to seeing and driving her when I get home. Thanks again Ray!

It popped within 12 hours of me getting back from Afghanistan, Jeff didn't mention he hadn't street tuned it yet, just on the dyno. I was grinning from ear to ear and not watching my gauges. To be honest I'm not that upset about it, cause now I get to have BHR build me one with all the bells and whistles!
Really? Wow, did you try to add more boost? did it detinate?

It was a tuning and lack of vigilance issue. The boost wasn't touched. I let it warm up in my garage then turned out of my neighborhood heading out to work on the 303, I got into boost, it stumbled, sputtered and tried to die. Being as this isn't my first rodeo I knew what happened and turned around parked it in the garage, grabbed the Jetta and called Ray. Ray of course has been fantastic in the matter. What has taken the most time was waiting on the seals to be made at NRS. I unfortunately missed the last production run as they only do it a few times a year and had to wait. In the mean time I bought a Miata so I could still have a toy, be it a very underpowered toy that has everyone questioning my sexuality. Oh well.
Ray, I'm on the plane right now on my way back home so if there is anything I can help you on with the removal/build, even if it's just to hand you a beer, let me know and I'll be there!

Did you abuse it or something? seems it would be more then a tweek to prevent a blown motor.
I took a datalog, told jeff it made a funny sound, and hesitated around 7krpms He said it was a rich misfire... Next tune was even leaner the next log was worse, the next day it died.

No abuse at all. I literally got back from Afghanistan and 12 hours later it was blown and I was asleep for most of that time. I am not the typical American looking for blame, I should have been watching the gauges but I wasn't. I'm dealing with what happened instead of wasting a bunch of time and energy to point a finger. I have a HEAVILY modified 8 that ran one of the highest power numbers for a privately owned 8. It's no mystery that the motor was going to go at some point. Let me rephrase something; I drive my car like it's stolen. Abuse to me means bouncing off red line, improper shifting, driving through a ping ect.
We rate driving styles the same
Your right about the blame game, but if the part or person is truly at fault, a rational person replaces it. I am mearly suggesting that you might want to look into other options....

I would if I could. The best I can tell everything was functioning just fine before and after the event. I wasn't logging at the time so I have no idea what really happened in the motor.
Good thing Ray is local. All of the other engine builders have either moved or closed up shop.
Just think if Ray/Erick quit doing re-builds....... that would suck *****.
Good to hear you're back in town.
