Good Lord. Somebody else could do it, then. I suspect you don't have a spare housing to test this on, hence one reason why I asked in the first place.

For an NA application they may be alright. I still strongly recommend against using them for a boost setup; especially anything that's endeavouring to run some good load on the motor.

B

Edit: I'm referring to the NGK BUR9EQ plugs and not the GReddy ones.

hey guys just putting this out there i got a rx8 with the greddy turbo and i'm running the RX7 trailing plugs (5255-BUR9EQP) as my leading and i got stock RX8 trailing plugs (6701-RE9BT) as my trailing this way i don't have a need for any shims or washers. I haven't really had any problems untill recently i had a few missfires, i got and installed the BHR ignition kit and got one missfire but i think i just need to change my plugs all over again or just give them a good cleaning.

if I change them out i might got with stock rx8 plugs (6700-RE7CL) leading and (6701-RE9BT)
trailing cause they both have a similar heat range.

No, I have a half a dozen housings sitting right here.
How do you think I verified it?
Which is why I said 100% verified.
Now, if you don't believe me, that's your problem.

yes - the trailing posn . I even got my vernier calipers out to measure the plug and hole depth and found there was clearance . I was tempted to not fit washers after finding his out but put them on anyway - just in case I was missing something .....

This is what i get
plug 20.4mm
hole 22.0mm
end of hole is not flat but tapered down towads the opening giving a 23mm depth at the edge of the opening into the combustion chamber .

your first pic - your calipers are measuring to the plug body - not the washer ......

I have the same spark plug and vernier calipers in front of me . 20.4mm (with a crushed washer)

Angle of the pic.

Look. Do whatever you want. I really don't care.

I've tested them and I've seen the damage they do to the wall of the rotor housing.

Have fun.

Thread... the... plug... into... the... plug... hole... Simple.

THEN, take a picture of it from the inside of the housing and see where the end of the plug is with respect to the depth of the plug land. Easy.

You've seen what? What damage to the wall of the rotor housing? I'd love to hear the explanation on this one.

The trailing plug hole has a "tapered" seat. The "face" of the plug contacts the wall of the housing while there is still .5mm or so of space between the seat and the plug hole "shoulder".
When you screw a 13b plug into that hole, it comes to the back of the plug hole opening in the combustion chamber, but it is not seated on the shoulder.
Applying torque to the pug to "seat" it puts pressure on the wall of the chamber.
Under engine load and heat, this surface deforms.
When you examine that area around that plug hole on an engine that has used the 13b plugs in that position, you find scuffing of the surface and corresponding damage to the apex seals.

I just know what I've seen. I'm not interested in a pissing match on this.
You all can do whatever floats your boat.
